Rear Bumper Paint Peeling
Like Ryan said, the rear bumper was unpainted black plastic in 2005. If yours is body color, then someone painted it. Painting on plastic requires some flex additives in the paint, or it will crack. Probably not a DIY job if you have no prior experience. -
Air suspension compressor motor innards
My 2005 LR3 with 73K miles. Is on its 4th compressor. Factory unit, 2 replacements while under warranty (one failure, one recall) then one more after the warranty expired. This has been the one weakness on the truck. -
LR4 LED Tails on LR3?
There are LR3 accessory tail lights (which look very similar to LR4) which are a direct replacement. LR4 tail lights can be fitted with minor modification - check on the disco3.co.uk website for details. -

Sounds like the thermostat needs to be replaced. It doesn't open when it reaches operating temp, and therefor the coolant is not flowing through the system. The coolant trapped inside the motor starts to cook because it can't circulate to the radiator to be cooled. And the hot coolant does... -

Side-by-side comparison Upon review, the Ford "Terrain Management System" is similar to Land Rover's "Terrain Response System", however Ford is missing the optional airlift setting. -

LOL, considering that Ford owned LR when the TR system was introduced, so can't really fault them there. BMWs with all-wheel-drive (cars and SAV's) have HDC installed, taken directly from LR. -

Parking lot protection
The body side molding kit is the best solution for preventing parking lot door dings. Sliders are nice, but are probably overkill for what you have described. -

Do you make house calls? :) Thanks for sharing. So you did not swap out the rear rotors? Curious how much thickness remained. Did you measure them? I am also going to need rear pads soon, and appreciate the insight. -

Consider this when looking for a used LR3
My 2005 HSE had all of the recalls performed and software updates. Other than the added inconvenience of those early service visits, the updated 2005's are now equally reliable as the 2006+ models. Still going strong at 72K miles, and 16 months out of warranty. -
Who Has Changed Transmission Fluid????
I plan to change at 100k miles. BMW uses the same model ZF transmission, and they quantified "lifetime fill" as 100k. Sure it can go farther, but for longevity it makes sense not to wait. -
Rusty hubs/rotors
If the rust is on the rotor surface and does not go away after driving, then the brake is not functioning. When the pads come in contact with the rotor, it will quickly remove any surface rust. Discoloration of brakes can also be caused by high temps, like when a pad is dragging and creating... -
