    Lr4 Brakes

I generally only buy car parts off Amazon if the seller is disclosed and someone I trust. For example, I've seen some parts being sold on there by Atlantic British and Miami British and maybe some of the other better-known Land Rover parts suppliers. Ordering through Amazon got me free shipping.

Black Friday sale (Gap IID Tool)

Anyone on the fence about getting an iiD tool, get it. It is a must-have, and this price is as cheap as they get.

    Lr4 Brakes

Without looking at mine right now, those 2013 brakes appear to be the same. I just looked online, though. The 2012s and 2013s have the same caliper part numbers, but different carrier part numbers. 2012 is LR015521 (R) and LR015522 (L). 2013 is LR032058 (R) and LR032059 (L). The plot thickens.

    Lr4 Brakes

So that's the 2013 and newer part. The pads I have on the rear now are Akebono. All they have is the plastic backing (no adhesive) and they've been quiet for the full time they've been in. My guess is the plastic backing is enough. Combine that with the beveled edge on the 2013+ pads and...

    Lr4 Brakes

Interesting. I should add that there is no difference in the pad thickness between the 2012 and the 2013 brake pads. It's just a difference in the surface area, and the 2013s have that one beveled edge.

    Lr4 Brakes

Here's a pic of the back of the pads. Top two are the 2012s; bottom two are the 2013s. The tan part on the top 2012 is a film you remove once the pad is installed to reveal the adhesive backing before you install the caliper. The Atlantic British how-to video on the rear discs/pads talks...

    Lr4 Brakes

I am fairly certain the Ferodo pads are the same as the Land Rover pads. I just swapped my front pads on Monday to get rid of a squeal that had developed with the Hawk pads. I ran Hawk pads with OEM rotors from October 2018 to April 2023 and around 45k miles with no issues, but for some...

    Lr4 Brakes

What's with the part number change on rear brake pads between the 2012 and 2013 LR4 model years? The 2012 model year is LR139969, which look like these: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/land-rover-brake-pad-set-ferodo-lr015519 The 2013 model year is LR134696, which look like these...

    Lucky 8 SYA Kit Problem

I have the Terrafirma sliders because I was going for low weight, but in retrospect wish I would have just gone with either the Tactical 4x4 or Proud Rhino (Lucky8) sliders. Now, I'm looking at either finding a compressor and air tank skid setup that will work with my Terrafirma sliders or just...

Made an appointment for timing chain fix

Maybe he means once he starts using the parts, he can't return them. So he at least wants to be covered on the cost of the parts if you stiff him for the tab at the end.

Going through my headlight saga (posted elsewhere), I've had my headlight housings out way more times than I can count.

    2015 LR4 Windshield Wipers

I've been using Silblade wiper blades for the last 20-some years. I believe Atlantic British carries them, but you can find them elsewhere.

    Blinking headlight

D3S are the correct bulbs. Osram makes the best and brightest. Extremely easy to replace. Replace both the left and right at the same time. Goggles are probably recommended if you fudge up and the bulb explodes or something. My guess is that goggles are recommended for every job that...

    Front Bull bar Lr4 2014

My local Land Rover dealer had its annual off-road event this past Saturday. The first part of the event is meeting at the dealership and looking around the service area. Their new snow plow vehicle is an LR4. The service manager said it was a PITA to hook the snow plow up to, but they got it...

    Advice on peeling dash

Lexol is the best one I've used for cars. I bought a big jug of it years ago that I'm still using now. I've also toyed with the idea of using either some of my Venitian Shoe Cream or Saphir Medaille d'Or Renovator that I use for my shoes, but that's probably an absurd amount of overkill for a...

    Advice on peeling dash

Fake leather that used crappy glue to adhere it up by the windshield. Glue went bad if you parked in the sun enough. Land Rover made a fix-it-kit that was essentially a plastic trim piece that you'd screw down up by the windshield to clamp down and hold the front of the dash in place...

    Advice on peeling dash

My old Disco 1 had a peeling dash when it was about 4 years old. It's part of the Land Rover tradition.

    LR4 Tailgate not opening

Ha. Same with me. I bought one of PowerfulUK's interior release handle things (that I think they get from someone else), but once I got my tailgate fixed I put that interior release handle on the "for another day" shelf, where it still sits today. I think I need to take a week off work...

    Timing Chain Class Action Settlement

That's pretty funny. When I had my chains done under my CPO warranty, the dealer service rep called and "strongly" recommended I needed about $200 to $400 in non-covered work. For example, and just as a indicator of how B.S. warranty work can be, the service advisor told me that the warranty...

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

Not sure how common radiator problems are, but mine was replaced when I had my timing chains done as part of the last hurrah at the tail end of my CPO warranty. Just under 80k miles and just under 6 years old.

There was a factory winch mount for the LR3. It carried the winch more in front of the bumper than inside it. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2008-land-rover-lr3-6/

    Highest mileage LR4?

283k. Pretty good. Umberto's had 225k on it when he sold his 3 years ago. His was a 2013 and he claimed he never really had anything major happen. https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/fs-2013-lr4-hse-lux-225k-miles-10k-socal.42129/#post-219357

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

"Common sense and a forum" doesn't help you when a warning light comes on and you can't determine what code it's throwing. Either that, or yours is clapped out and has a permawarning light on. I guess now I know why you consider a 10 year old vehicle with 100k miles on it "elderly."

Coolant Crossover Pipe Repair 5.0 V8

I do preventative maintenance. I've done it on every vehicle I've owned. Multiple Land Cruisers, Jeeps, and Land Rovers. I don't find it particularly more expensive than any prior vehicle I've owned, but then again I'm making more money now than I've ever made before so it's all probably...
