LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

Correct, but not just by my rationale. It's basically everyone in the industry. You keep missing that your examples of "trickery" are just that, trickery, and therefor not lifts. The spacers, whether it be body or strut, allow the vehicle to be higher than the factory limits. I tested this...

LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

to your ?, answer is NO. Like I detailed several times. The strut spacer literally sets the range of motion higher while retaining the correct travel in the air spring and damper. If you do nothing to settings, the sensor will automatically set the struts to neutral length which results in 2"...

Replacement of Air Strut Assembly: 06 LR3 HSE

ZERO anything is better about those "remanufactured" struts. He's being cheap on something that I would not be cheap on... Just get what AB or Rovers North has and be happy you'll have an accountable/helpful place to call a person if anything goes wrong. This is super easy DIY actually. Houm...

LR4 vs LR3 Air Suspension Struts

The easiest thing would be the dampers to affect the feel of the handling. The spring rate is going to be the air pressure, the volume of air in chamber, not so much the rubber I would venture to guess.

LR4 vs LR3 Air Suspension Struts

I think you can pull some interface parts off an old rear strut but having gone through this, I'd just go with the oem or factory parts like seen on Rovers North.

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

For wheels, yes, for total solution one can also put on lr4 tdi spec brakes i would assume just as I swapped in the V6 gas matched brake size. You probably also know Ryan but the NAS market briefly got just a few lr3 in v6 form and those came with factory 17". If it were me setting up an lr4...

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

yeah 75 to 53 isn't enough. I think the compomotives work because they are machined or cast with more clearance where it's needed but also their offset is 44 and it's barely enough but only as much as needed. You have to keep in mind when looking at parts sources that even if it's a factory...

This is possibly my favorite post to see in years ;)

LR4 vs LR3 Air Suspension Struts

That's an interesting note I had not heard of before. Makes sense why the lr4 feels a lot more dampened if it's not simply due to the geometry and few small parts in the front end suspension.

....on 2nd thought, you guys do whatever the hell you want. The results of someone else's bad choice are not my problem. I think I'll just quite trying to help people not waste time on BS I already went through years ago when nobody had done anything yet to learn from on the lr3. Go waste...

LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

You need to state what you think I argued against as if it was your idea or that of anyone else. LOL does this simplify it for you: rods and electronic "lifts" are not lifts. Physical changes are. Ideally we would not alter suspension geometries but it's a trade of for ground clearance as...

LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

You’re bringing up a lot here actually ;) This is theoretical because the vehicle isn’t simply body on frame. There may be other negative issues created or trade offs if everything isn’t based on its attachment to the frame. At zero air, yes, a 2” body spacer would equally raise the fenders...

LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

Not sure what you’re asking for but my above post has confusing typo : should read “RUB like hell”. The mods for large tires are covered in depth in other threads especially those with heavy duty builds: Frame, body metal, fender liners, minor relocation of wires and hvac tubing plus other items...

LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

1-it’s not about air pressure (yet it may actually be higher due to lifting the vehicle via that column of air) It’s about keeping up with demands on the system. Speculation vs observed use: Anyone who’s used these a lot in high mode has experienced the compressor at some point getting hot or...

LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

I just want to beat a dead horse here... ;) Your statement is correct because a body lift is also a true lift ;)
  18. jwest

LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

It’s not a “lift” because it is generally accepted that a lift implies something more than stock can provide. You cannot really use 34” tires without the spacers or a body lift because you’d have to run the struts extended too far all the time. It would be retarded, literally. The compressor...

LT 285/65/18 Cooper Discoverer STT pro all terrain

285/65 is not the best choice for the factory 8” wheels. The guy above w 265/70 has the best size because they provide max height while fitting the best during turning as well tucking into fenders at full compression. 285/65 is a lot wider than the 265/70 and without the full spectrum of...

    LR4+Expedition Rack+... skis?

Why do you think there are no rails under the rack? That's what they mount to I think I recall .... ? Anyway, I did not know non oe were out there but that $1300 is insane. Dealer cross bars are idiotic usually and that $ proves it. The only reason I used Yakima is because they are round...

    LR4+Expedition Rack+... skis?

Yes this ^ my Hannibal is actually mounted on what was supposed to be a quick fix/temp idea. Yakima cross bars on standard short towers. The beauty is though that I can take the whole thing off or on, SOLO, in about 5-10 minutes. 2 2x4 slid under sitting across factory tracks, unlatch...

    LR4+Expedition Rack+... skis?

Remove rack that costs you gas, noise, and is rarely used in winter, or ever. Pop a nice low profile cargo box on to keep yer shit grime free. Yeah, skis look cool but why people destroy the bindings on roofs is beyond me.

    Extended Warranties

I'm going to use this opportunity for a mini-chat on cash flow ;) There are of course many factors that are different for everyone but if you could get coverage to 100k as well as a time frame that would be used in order for YOU to get it to 100k, then I'd consider the warranty with no...

h, also, if you were buying a bmw, i'd say get that warranty TODAY ;) Mine used so much warranty coverage by 100k it was just stupid.
