18" Wheels - EVO CORSE DAKARZERO

For a 31.5" tire just give me the money you want to throw away on rods that actually reduce the good qualities engineered into the vehicle and I'll donate it to a shade tree mechanic or something else actually useful. Then you can just use the vehicle in exactly the same way while not costing...

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

I really don't know other than the one time I have the CAT scale paper which said 8220.

18" Wheels - EVO CORSE DAKARZERO

Bike tire seating needs a good initial blast so the tank is useful for that. Otherwise, there isn't enough max psi and/or volume to be all that useful. Well, it does allow good 100 psi blast for blowing off crud or dust off the dash, but I only had the single compressor at the time and maybe...

18" Wheels - EVO CORSE DAKARZERO

I think the 3rd row is about 80 lbs. So mine was with no people except me and I only weigh 155 but the tanks is a bog one and I don't recall how full mine were either. No matter the exact number, it's a lot we're rolling with. Amazing really.

Tire chains and 265/65 r18 tires

I have the RUD 4x4 chains on 265/65-18 and made them fit onto 275/65-18 as well. However, I also have a set of 25mm H&R spacers on which is what allows clearance of the front upper control arm. You'd of course also need all the normal modifications for fitting a tire such as 32-33" so frame...

    Stock LR4 and 275 55 20s - the results!!

Sounds good. You can also test it near the limits which would be when the suspension is fully extended and fully compressed with the turn angle near the tightest spot. The reason I mention this is that at the normal ride height, the wheel is its furthest position away from the engine. I don't...

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

Those AT tires are overkill as well then based on the 40k and terrain for a while. I'd go to something more like the Michelin defender absolutely over those other ones. Quieter, better fuel mpg, better in rain, possibly lighter?

    Stock LR4 and 275 55 20s - the results!!

If they only scuff the horns, I'd leave them but if they are grinding off your tire edge, then I'd remove them or reconsider tire size and/or wheel offset. This is also where a wider offset only makes the situation worse but tucking the wheels in can help a lot.

18" Wheels - EVO CORSE DAKARZERO

I challenge you to show us because I've had mine weighed several times on different trips and never saw over 8400. I do not think you have more junk on yours but maybe you are including a few people. Major items besides the 52 gallons it can have but I did not weigh full fuel: ARB front +...

    Stock LR4 and 275 55 20s - the results!!

You're missing the point of my post which is that they do not always come out as exactly as you'd expect from the listed numbers. The 2 in particular are WAY more than a .1" difference in diameter which on these very tight fittings people are attempting, can be the difference b/n working just...

    Stock LR4 and 275 55 20s - the results!!

one other thing. Not all tires are actually the same size even if the printed numbers suggest it. My BFG at ko2 are noticeably smaller diameter compared to the Michelin LTX MS2 which are both taller diameter and wider at the widest section point yet narrower on the actual tread.

    Stock LR4 and 275 55 20s - the results!!

My testing showed the strut spacer is NOT required for no air and 32" tire. However, this is on an lr3 which means I am using an lr3 factory wheel 18x8" as well as the other standard mods such as flattening the rear fender liner bulges (absolutely necessary) and an ARB bumper which has a little...

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

None of those LOL ;) I did use the Nitto briefly. To be honest, all those are 'meh' for the use you describe. I used to think I needed SO much tire, tough, aggressive, etc. Then a few yrs ago I decided to see how little I could use to do how much. I chose the Michelin MS2 (there are...

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

So let me say a few things for you to consider because we don't know your entire picture here. First, how many miles do you expect to roll before making it's change to more off-road/weekend uses and why would that time period then see tracks more rugged than now? I'm not asking how often, but...

18" Wheels - EVO CORSE DAKARZERO

I do not understand what you are asking. The factory will show a base weight and then total gross when loaded. Mine is well beyond the GVWR. In the US vehicles are never tested for licensing and people use tires that stick out well past the fenders and many other hazardous things. Due to the...

    285/60R18 Truth or Fiction?

The proportion is also a factor to consider. The ratio between width and height on the tire will affect how the vehicle feels at speed especially when cornering but also in its safety during emergency shifts at speed, like collision avoidance. A more "square" section to the wheel is going to...

    285/60R18 Truth or Fiction?

Yup!! Too often people don't just stop and think about the basic geometry here. It's so simple it's silly. Another funny thing is that the front tires get closest to the upper control arm when the tires are extended down the most. They draw in like you said and the UCA comes closer to the...

    Winter is here. Floor Mats?

I have the factory rubber mats in since new in 2007. Still working fine. Got the whole set because back then, there wasn't really any other way. Isn't it interesting to recall how not long ago, you couldn't just go to Amazon for almost anything or other online sources.

Using what wheels ? 30mm is too wide IMO. I have a set of both 25mm and 30.

    LR 4 Retired

Yeah, I totally thought it would get more use but well, since buying it new in 2007, there have been maybe 5 times the 3rd row was occupied. I had a new 06 Land Cruiser before this... I try not to think how 'uneventful' that ownership could've been...

For those that offroad their LR4...a few questions before I pull the trigger

Thank you! There are certainly different ways, even preferences, to approach a problem but I try to point out how I weighed the pro-con of things. My use case is not going to match everyone else though.

    LR 4 Retired

Let me list for you all what is in mine instead of the 3rd row seats. Keep in mind the space where the feet would go if you sat there, even with the 2nd row down, there's that area where the factory cargo area cover is meant to drop in below the floor level. Remove the rear seats and you have...

    LR 4 Retired

Your post could be confusing to some. I would call it "flat" 100% but not relative to the axis b/n front and rear wheels. Relative to itself though, the lr3/4 2nd-3rd row is flat unlike many vehicles that have a curve or something from cargo to 2nd row seats like many wagons. Both our BMW...

For those that offroad their LR4...a few questions before I pull the trigger

Required or you will have massive rubbing: HVAC lines moved, flanges flattened both sides, fender liner plastic bulge flattened, etc. Wheel spacers make tire diameter issues worse, in every aspect. That tire is extra tall and the spacer required to allow a factory 18" to clear pushes the wheel...
