Battery life
You are correct...3 to 4 years is the normal lifespan of an LR4 battery based on my experience. I now carry an XP-10 charger and try to make it to 4 years. -

"Cameras Unavailable" when it rains?
Turns out my issue is that the actual camera failed. Dealer had to order one, don't know the total cost yet. They will install it along with my 3rd water pump as water pump #2 is leaking. So glad I use this truck for work and the repairs go on the company credit card. -

Watch for weak battery warning signs, like the clock changing to military time format by itself. Nothing wrong with changing the battery at 3 years on our vehicles, but it should last about 4 years. I also carry an XP-10 micro start battery which I did have to use once and it worked great and... -

Totally agree, electronics are just a bonus. After regular driver ed this summer we're going to Audi teen driver school in the fall where they can master more skills at higher speeds. And they both want to learn how to drive a manual as well. -

Blind spot monitoring, automatic forward braking, rear detection and automatic rear braking, lane keep assist and road departure mitigation. Technology my LR4 lacks that may help prevent a new driver from getting into an accident. -

Jacking with air suspension
Yes, go to off-road height before jacking as the suspension has a lot of "reach", especially the rear suspension. Make sure you use the rear parking brake and block the front wheels too. -

Jack broken
My neighbor was changing a flat tire on his LR4 and the jack twisted and collapsed. Luckily he was not hurt and didn't remove the tire yet. Dealer gave him a new jack free of charge, but clearly our jacks may not be strong enough for our vehicles. -

Dealer Price - Alternator and Battery
wthammett, how many miles on your LR4? Starting to hear an odd whirling noise from the alternator area. May want to replace mine before my wife and kids have the same problem while on the beach. And you totally did the right thing to fix yours. -

Yes, then cool air comes out the ceiling vents and the way back vents for the dog.
