Crossover Pipe - Replace Pre-Emptively?
According to my dealer, the leaking crossover pipe is more of an issue in warm climates. He said they have only replaced one so far. So maybe the crossover pipe lasts twice as long for those of us that have winter. -

Buy a Mityvac on Amazon, oil filters from Atlantic British, Mobil 1 oil from Walmart and do your own oil changes. You can do it in 15 minutes which is probably less than time spent driving to the dealer. And buy a set of Gorilla lug nuts to replace those stupid tin-capped OEM lug nuts.- PaulLR3

^This. Just replaced the stupid twisted cap nuts with Gorilla nuts. Should have done it a long time ago. No more prying lug nuts out of the 22mm socket. -

I would certainly go with the well maintained 2012 with 107K over the 2010 that will need all that work done soon. Many here are getting close to 200K and someone just posted pic of an LR4 odometer with over 300K. Just make sure you do the transmission service on the 2012 if it has not been... -

Beth, by "this car" are you referring to a Discovery 5 or LR4? If a D5, did you own an LR4 before the D5? Most of here can't accept the D5 as a new and improved replacement for the LR4. I have spent many miles in D5 loaners, and if I think of it as a new and improved replacement for my 2004... -

Things to look for on a high mileage LR4
You should be able to take the VIN to your local LR dealer and have them print out the dealer service history. The one with 87K may need new diff fluids, transfer case fluid, transmission service, spark plugs, fan belt and more. The one with 107K should have had all of those done by now if it... -

Exactly. And now LR4 owners don't want to buy a D5. And X5, Q7, XC90 & GLS shoppers aren't buying the D5 either as they had hoped. And most Explorer/Highlander/Pilot/Travere shoppers don't want to spend the extra $10K-$20K on a D5. -

Approaching end of lease...decision time
If you can get a CPO warranty for around $2K I'd grab it. You will easily spend that on repairs up until 100K miles. My CPO warranty covered a water pump, some suspension parts, rear hatch release, seized rear brake caliper and compressor. -

Discovery 5 SVX will not go into production
So disappointing. I would have ordered one as soon as it was available. Just can't see spending $75K to replace my LR4 with a D5. Despite many test drives and D5 loaners, I just don't love it enough to buy it. Maybe I'll save $30K and get a Honda Passport Elite. (And keep my wife's LR4 forever)- PaulLR3

Another Defender hint?
I read somewhere that the Defender will only get a 4 cylinder engine. Hopefully it's an all new engine since the current LR 4 cylinder engines I've experienced in loaner vehicles are pathetic. -
