Switching to LEDs for headlights 2010 lr4

Good to know. I'm pretty sure that your '11 and my '13 use the same H11 bulb (or a modified H9). I'm also non-adaptive so I think I'll give these a try. Edit: My main reservation is based on reviews stating short life span. I turned on DRL so this would definitely be a factor for me.

    LR4 V8 skipped time finally at 245k

War Eagle and I'm glad to hear you'll try to give it another life.

I’ve recommended this resource a few times. Sometimes it will offer a review or other insight that might help you decide, or at least give you some options. LRshops.com

    Looking to purchase - 2012 - LR4 - Advice

It does look like it’s worth a look at the very least, and at a reasonable price given all the peace of mind you’ll get from the previous repairs. That’s worth a lot in these vehicles as you know!

    Looking to purchase - 2012 - LR4 - Advice

Ha! Here I thought you were brand new to the LR4 and yet you’ve owned more of them than most forum members here. We should be asking you what to look for.

Little rubber bumper the top hatch comes down on?

Thanks for identifying this part. As mentioned, these are very soft plastic and easily damaged even when care is used removing them. Would not be a bad idea to order some of these for anyone planning the liftgate actuator repair.

Another LR4 Saved from Coolant Death

Interesting and plausible-sounding theory especially when combined with the heat theory...

My dash lit up like a christmas tree after driving in snow.

No dash computer necessary. The one-touch feature is always disabled after a battery swap or disconnect. In turn, just lower each window, raise it and continue to hold the UP position of the switch until the window seats itself fully and possibly clicks a couple of times. Do this on each window...

    Phone Mount For LR4?

I periodically scan the webs for info on retrofitting Carplay into the LR4. There are some hacks for getting it onto an iPad but they involve jailbreaking and I'm not crazy about that. Wireless Carplay in the Rover would be the holy grail.

Another LR4 Saved from Coolant Death

Very disheartening to say the least. Worse than timing chain problems, IMO. At least with those things you get some of the slap-happy warning sounds. With these pipes even a super close external visual inspection reveals nothing of the rot within. Sheesh, add one more reason that LR4 owners...

Headliners.... why are they always beige or a version of boring?

I’ve wondered about this also but never to the point of wanting to do anything about it. However, IF my headliner ever started sagging I’d replace it right away. I’m thinking something in a neutral shade with a very subtle topo pattern would look good. This would not get away from the primary...

    Phone Mount For LR4?

I set all my nav devices to "North Up" because I want to internalize the direction I'm traveling so I can stay oriented if TSHTF and everything stops working. Plus it helps keep my spatial orientation and situational awareness reflexes sharp.

    Phone Mount For LR4?

I often use both systems when I'm on a road trip. I set the onboard nav display to the 2- or 4-mile zoom range so I can get a general view of distance/direction/position and leave the granular stuff to the phone's display. Otherwise I rarely use the onboard system.

    Phone Mount For LR4?

I'm the same way about the looks of stuff in my cockpit. And I agree that the simple fixes are often the best. I saw a $10 vent clip magnetic mount at a carwash checkout counter and got it and it's still in service. I'm liking your horizontal look but that cord would drive me nuts. I have a nice...

Smart Key Battery Low doesn't give much warning!

Probably makes sense to keep a package of CR2032 batteries in your glove box or bug out bag.

    High Pitched Squeal

Definitely the acoustics of the overpass that are making it more noticeable. I instantly noticed a whistling from the OEM crossbars when I installed them and I don’t even need a bridge to point it out. And yes I installed them in the correct orientation. IIRC you have a clean roof, right? Try...

    Need a Second Key

Same here. I am surprised we didn't have that tidbit somewhere in the forum archives. Frankly I thought the Foxwell interface/instructions were confusing. There seemed to be a few moments of guesswork involved during the programming of the new fob, and a message that programming failed when it...

    LR4 Error Codes

Trying to make sense of the Carfax and gave up. They did the 45K service at 25K mileage, then 8 mos later did the 30K service at 32K mileage. Maybe the first interval was a typo. But then it says they did the 15K service at 85K mileage. Again, get a pre-purchase inspection.

True, and why would that part be different on the two engines...is it different?

    LR4 Error Codes

I agree with @Michael Gain regarding the number of codes on this “nice” LR4. At the very least get a qualified LR mechanic to do a prepurchase inspection. Even then I personally would feel like I was probably throwing good money after bad. This is tough advice but try not to fall in love with...

Little rubber bumper the top hatch comes down on?

Good point and since we're on a roll here I'll recommend replacement of the liftgate actuator while it's all opened up!

    What oil are you using?

My 2013 has developed a taste for blood...Castrol Edge Professional OE 5w20 ("Gucci") blood, that is...every 5K miles.
