Little rubber bumper the top hatch comes down on?

That's what I thought you meant when I replied that those buttons are trim caps that cover screw heads. They are very soft plastic and they seem to cut easily when you pop them off with a pick or blade. I see you're missing the screw in the first hole. If you pry off the cap that is next in line...

In need of the most random part ever. Any ideas?

Once I’m fixated on a color or feature I like, anything else falls short and compromising eats away at my soul. I’d do a quick scan of the salvage yards as @avslash suggested, then do the paint mod you are considering.

In need of the most random part ever. Any ideas?

I’ve got mild pack rat tendencies and usually give in to them when it comes to LR stuff. I keep a box in the garage where this stuff goes.

    LR4 Tailgate not opening

Damn. I recently replaced my actuator (thankfully just as it was failing but before it did) and I had this thread in the back of my mind. But I was in a hurry to get it done and didn’t take the time to route an emergency release. This is now one of those “I should take it apart and do this one...

In need of the most random part ever. Any ideas?

Depending on how much you saved on the used rails, it may make sense to buy another set of new knockoff rails just to cannibilize the gasket. You still may come in under the cost of new OEM rails which if memory serves is around $500+. Granted that sounds like a nutty idea...nutty enough that it...

    Add 3rd Row Seating to LR4 2010

That is probably the fault of the online VIN decoder you may have used. Others have also commented that these are often inaccurate. The one offered by JLR through their TOPIX site is now behind a paywall I'm pretty sure. Good luck with the mod projects!

    Phone Mount For LR4?

The Proclip is a lot more than $30. You need the custom base that clamps onto your LR4's dash/trim, then the actual holder that mounts to that base. If memory serves, the entire setup was more like $50-60.

    Add 3rd Row Seating to LR4 2010

How is the floor cavity handled when retrofitting those seats back there on a base model? Is it there under some type of removable rigid flooring?

    Add 3rd Row Seating to LR4 2010

I just checked an Edmunds review and even in 2016 the base LR4 came standard with 5 seats. I can't imagine that they sold many of them but it stands to reason that the base model in earlier model years had that same seating capacity. Rare!

In need of the most random part ever. Any ideas?

I think that's gonna be a tough one to find separately. Maybe there's a way to fabricate something that would at least work as a gasket around the edge of that end of the rail. On another note, it's nice to see someone else who gets used gear and details it before installing. Did the same thing...

There she blows, (maybe coolant crossover)

Mine was just under $1000 to replace pump and both pipes. Labor was around $400 (3 hrs). This is in DC metro area.

Key battery / e-brake warning oddity

Chalking this up as the latest entry in the "It's a Land Rover Thing" wiki. In all seriousness I think it's helpful to report odd stuff like this because eventually it helps us connect the dots. Examples include brake switches and hood latch switches and clocks that suddenly switch to 24-hr time...

    Tail light (aftermarket)

I like my 2013 taillights but I'm with you re the LR3 lights. I think the trim all around the LR3 looks more purposeful and less bling-y than the LR4. But to just swap in LR3 taillights on an LR4 would look weird to me...like an animal that had not fully evolved and was still walking around with...

    Heated windshield not working

I may be wrong but I thought Fuyao was decent glass at least as far as chinese stuff goes. That said, I hope you're able to get a Pilkington replacement whether or not it has the LR logo on it. Good call to do the cowl swap also.

2016 LR4 w/32k miles - replace all brakes at same time?

Personally I wouldn’t stress over it especially if there’s still some good meat left on the aftermarket rotors and pads. Atlantic British sells good quality stuff. If you’re talking about crap parts from the bargain bin, that might be another story. Even then it doesn’t seem like they’d make a...

    LR 4 model years

I can only speak to the North American spec which we know as the LR4. Are you in the UK or Oz? If so some of this may not apply; I’m not 100% certain... The 2013 NAS LR4 is considered by many to have the best of the 5.0L Jag engines because in this model year the tension guides for the timing...

2016 cost for replacement engine SCV6

As of this moment in time, I would pay that to keep my LR4 rolling along. Granted, I'd rename it "Lazarus" for good karma. But stacking that amount up against getting another, lesser (IMO) vehicle, it would be worth it.

    LR4 V8 skipped time finally at 245k

I must say that my initial enthusiasm has not dropped off. I think I've got somewhere north of 40K miles on these and they're still going strong. You may have read the post where I cut a sidewall while offroading in the woods, but I can't blame that on the tire. It was a fluke where a sharp rock...

    LR4 V8 skipped time finally at 245k

That's funny because there are a few people here who have intentionally removed that headrest. I am a stock nerd so I've kept mine in place even though it is indisputably true that the rear view while driving is better without it.

    LR4 V8 skipped time finally at 245k

I have indeed enjoyed the Conti TerrainContact ATs in mixed driving; mostly paved around town and long road trips but also some fun offroad outings that involved gravel/loose surface, water crossings, mud, mild snow, and beach driving. They aren't the most aggressive *looking* tire but they...

2016 brush guards, rack and ladder - please identify

A true and dedicated poser would take the time to spray paint a replica of a muddy high water mark on the snorkel. Or do the same with red sandy “dust” around the upper leading edge of the snorkel.

    What is this??

I recommend you get to know that part well, as in removing it every 5000-7500 miles. Search YouTube for “Umberto LR4 oil change” and do your LR4 and your wallet a solid.

Little rubber bumper the top hatch comes down on?

Took me a bit to understand what you meant because I never considered those to be bumpers per se. I thought they were simple cosmetic trim caps. Having said that, I’m glad you located the part number. I recently removed all of mine while replacing the actuator for the upper liftgate. I was...
