Great Posts and photographs everyone!
Thank you @Michael Gain!
I purchased two "PCV Valve Service Kit LR133579, Includes Diaphragm And Cap" from Atlantic British and did the install today.
There were no codes and no visible or auditory issues but felt that after 15 years and 90,000 miles -...
Thanks @Mozambique ,
And keep us posted as you progress!
I personally like my 5.0 V8 and wouldn't want a V6.
I think your mechanic is basically correct: when you take off the heads on the V6, there is is this space where the cylinders for the V8 (AJ133) go. It does look like they simply...
Dear @Frank8 ,
How are the brakes going?
I am getting closer to working on the brake system rebuild (after engine services are complete).
We are pulling all the brake and steering lines in the engine bay (the plastic / rubber hoses and such) as well as replacing the Vacuum pump and...
Also, @Tapps33 has some great video posted to his YouTube Channel on this subject - shout out to Chris for the great work!

Thanks @powershift,
And do let us know what your thoughts and progress would be regarding the audio upgrade. I have seen a couple videos of folks doing speaker upgrades or apple ICar/IPlay stuff but haven't really thought about that aspect of things for myself yet. Basically, the factory sound...
And yet another correction.
After a bit of internet searching, it appears there are indeed a couple of folks have fitted 35" tires. But only a couple - one to an LR3 (which would basically be the same as a 4 I imagine) and one to an LR4.
All that said - they did NOT also fit 35" tires to a...
@Rendak,
As folks mentioned - these problems with the coolant system are rather legion with the LR4 (at least the AJ 133 engine I have in my 2010)...and coolant problems appear to be multiplying with newer engine designs (for all vehicles).
It seems engine designs are getting more and more...
And I forgot to mention - you seem to be right!
While I have not had any furry friends in my LR4, the latest edition of LR Time, with Christian and Vera getting
"the Cheapest Land Rover Discovery 3 in Germany"
there are several mice nests in the LR3 they acquired as their newest project...
This is what the OEM bracket looks like which the Hellas then connect to. This variation has the rise for the lights to fit over the plastic brush guard. The steel bracket ties-into the steel uprights which descend downward and bolt onto the frame. One note about the brackets and steel - the OEM...
This is what the OEM (Hella) Lights installed on my LR4 look like (with the "older" bumper / grill / lights and the plastic brush guard thing).
If folks were wondering about the brush guard, I can tell you all about it...but since it's no longer available I figure folks are not very interested.
I have the OEM lights which @Rover Range provided the instructions.
Yes, the install is very involved and not very fun. There are a lot of issues sorted out and as one person said on this forum a long time ago (when I did mine, which was 2015)... you pay $1000 to get the OEM wiring harness...
Bottom Line - as the tribe has mentioned already: the Compomotives were simply the first manufacturer to offer 18" wheels for the LR/DISCO 4.
When my LR4 rolled off the assembly line in early 2010, there were no 18" wheels available (yet). In fact, the conventional wisdom in those days was to...
@powershift - Thanks and indeed, one can find places to hang things most anywhere. That said, the more junk you rip out.......the more room (and things to hang stuff from) you shall find!
Yes - the pads and things will be getting a healthy does of copper anti-seize (my own stop squeak /...
Thanks @powershift and looks like we will find out if this is any better....
The plan right now is to do more in the engine bay, including using dynamat, on the underside of the hood.
I can post photos separately and if really helpful, maybe making a new thread for heat and sound proofing the...
Thanks @John Higgins ,
Great idea and unfortunately the front struts are already back in place and the control arms (and other junk) installed.
However, we will be hosing everything down (the struts, air lines, and blocks) with soapy water when powering the compressor and charging the lines...
Anyone have tips, tricks, and lessons from rebuilding brakes?
I am presently working on a full rebuild (new pistons, pins, washers, boots, brake lines, etc) on both front and rear sets.
Images of Front Calipers before rebuild -
Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this great thread and all the really detailed and helpful posts! This is a great example of the power of this forum!
For Us, this job was far, far simpler since we already had the whole engine bay torn down so for those curious where the pumps are on the engine (underneath their black protective hood/covers) and what it looks like - check out the box I drew indicating their location:
