Thank you for the reply! Sounds like it is definitely broken. Wish I knew this when I bought it. I just purchased my LR3 about a month ago and didn't notice the loose gear box grip until this week, so it must have already broken when I bought it. I didn't notice it until I used the +/- feature... -

Loose Gear Box Knob on My 2005 LR3
I took the center plastic piece off (the part that has a brushed aluminum look to it) and, after further inspection, I would have no idea how to remove the gear box handle to do the work myself. However, I would be happy to do the work myself since it seems like it would be simple enough to do. -

Just talked to the service guy at Land Rover Dallas. He said that, if the handle can spin, it is broken and I can't just tighten a screw. He said I will need to have it replaced ($115 parts, labor, and tax). -

Well, I tried that. I couldn't get it to snap down any further on the shift rod. It feels like the handle is pushed all the way down, but is still very loose (only spins). -

I'm hoping someone might be able to tell me how to tighten the gear box knob on my LR3. Mine became very loose today and can do easily do a 360. Obviously not very safe if I want to use the manual +/- feature or even shifting it into reverse. I can take the center plastic piece off, but don't... -
