1996 LR Disco 1 head gasket replacement

Got the gaskets replaced, along with new bolts. Took about 12 hours to do. The gaskets had been replaced before by the previous owner. The MASS airflow connector was/is bad causing it to run really bad, not sure if that might have had something to do with the head gasket.........detonation, etc...

    Brake Booster

Gotta Go I have decided to go ahead and sell the Range Rover. I got my old Discovery back and need the space. I will continue to look for a solution to the brake conversion elsewhere. Surely it can be converted to a comon brake booster type system. John O.

1996 LR Disco 1 head gasket replacement

.....gasket Thanks. The gasket set I orderd has the newer composite style head gaskets, and the single use head bolts. Are these composite style head gaskets the ones that will leak? John O 1923 T Bucket Roadster 2012 Hemi Ram RT 1965 Belvedere Big Block 1996 RR P38 HSE 1996 Disco 1

1996 LR Disco 1 head gasket replacement

I got my old truck back the other day, after the guy I sold it to surrendered to the constant repair demands of owning a Land Rover. I ordered a head gasket set from Antlantic British and should be here by Friday. Any special "things" to be aware of? It looks like there is enough room to work in...

    Brake Booster

Also on my POS RR '96 HSE P38, I repaired the damaged hood with a hood scoop. And installed an ARB Bull Bumper made for a Classic but forced a couple things to make it fit., and installed a winch.

    Brake Booster

ABS Brake Booster A while back, I had a thread about brakes on a '96 RR HSE P38. I had replaced the O rings in the ABS mod since one of them leaked. The O rings are still holding up, but it still takes forever for the brakes to pump up when I turn the ignition on. If I don't wait for the pump...

    98 RangeRover HSE 4.6

Glad to hear you have some welding experience, and can run a stick. Most people are comfortable with wire feed, it will work also. Cover any wheel studs with masking tape to keep slatter off them. I happen to be a Union Boiler Operator, UFCW Local whatever. We have Kewanee boilers, 5 of them...

    Brake Booster

I purchased some "O" rings from a fluid power vender in Lincoln Nebraska that were roughly the same size as the original ones. The salesman wasn't real helpful and pretty much told me I was wasting my time, but we searched on and did our best to use a dial caliper to measure the few he had that...

    98 RangeRover HSE 4.6

I posted an idea on how to remove a bearing from a bearing housing by using an arc welder to shrink the bearing cup. It is a tried and true method that has never-not worked for me. However, either I did something wrong in posting the thread, or someone removed it from view. The post was added...

    Noisy Drivetrain 99 Range Rover

Tire noise will be somewhat insulated from the frame or body of the truck, whereas drivetrain will be more directly causing a vibration that can be felt while holding the shifter, for example. See if you can feel the noise by holding on to something solid in the cab as you aproach 55 mph. This...

    98 RangeRover HSE 4.6

Hey motox, which wheel bearing, front or rear? Most wheel bearing "cups" have to be "pressed" in. That is, they have basically zero tolerance. Getting the cup in is the easy part, it's getting it out that is a pain. The tough part is finding a place where you can get a punch behind it and slowly...

    Please help, need advice!

My advice would be to get your new tires and rims put on, and consider taking it to a shop that does front end alignments, but has no knowledge of your mishap. You might get the front end checked for free, and a list of parts, if any, that need changed. John O. Crete, Ne.

    Brake Booster

Ya, I like cheap. This poor thing did come with the spring conversion and module. I can't say much more positive about it though. I need to fix all the major stuff, then focus on the bumper. The original is damaged, but I can salvage the center section and use it as a starting point for a home...

    Brake Booster

The solenoid/servo area is what is flooding with brake fluid, then it is pouring out past the large wire harness plug and onto my dog, if she happens to be laying there. Otherwise it is making a mess of everything. It really pours out after it has sat for several days and the key is turned on...

    Brake Booster

I skimmed through all the threads in this catagory, and didn't see any titled, "Brake Fluid Pouring From Under Brake Booster." Am I the only person in the world with a bad Brake Booster that costs $3500. I have a '96 RR with antilock. There are still some available, but the truck isn't worth...
