    Air suspension shock replacement

Old thread but wondering if Britpart front air springs are no longer avaialable, seems like Arnott or dealership are the only quality option left. Rockauto no longer has Arnott, but other brands that I can't find any info online about.

    Door lock actuator

I just finished this job, front passenger actuator replacement. Had to do it twice as I didnt notice the cable was broken on the replacement. But doing it twice help me as the first time I followed the videos, and its a lot of work. Second time was a lot quicker and easier. Some of the tips...

Change out differential and transfer case fluids

My guess, and only a guess, its that they now have more data points to validate the lower viscocity and figured out that it will work. Higher centistokes would hold more pressure, and maybe the ability for the case to properly work could be impaired? And that transfer case never operates at...

Change out differential and transfer case fluids

Not sure, but the Synchromax seemed to me like pretty low viscocity, unlike gear oil, looked more like ATF than gear oil. I didnt measure anything with a Brookfield viscometer, just my fingers-o-meter. I used Redline on the diffs the first few times I did mine, but that was because a had a...

LR4: Long Crank, Multiple Faults, No Dash Lights Illuminated

Have you checked the battery? A low battery charge, even a couple of volts, creates all kinds off odd behavior on these trucks. If you have another vehicle, can you add jumper cables to the LR4 and see if its related to that?

    Diff and Xfer Fluids

Done this a couple times on my 2012 LR4, open differential with: CASTROL GEAR OIL 75W90 SYNTRAX LONGLIFE Royal Purple-ROY01512 ROYAL PURPLE SYNCHROMAX QT. TRANSFLUID Both fluids easy to get in stores or Amazon. The transfer case was an easy fill if you remove the heat shield. The front...

    Roaring sound

This is the hub I was talking about. The bolt heads sheared, dealer put in a 720 belt instead of a 745. The water pump is behind the hub, studs came out by hand. Middle pic shows it all replaced.

    Roaring sound

Check the fan belt and pulley housing. I had similar symptoms and it was the belt, dealer had installed a shorter belt than required and the bolt heads had sheared off, roaring sound. New bolts and proper belt and good as new.

    Might buy 2012 LR2

I have a 2012 that we bought new, has 120K miles and it has been very reliable. I change the oil every 7K miles and keep up with other maintenance. Besides the items that will wear out in any vehicle, we had the rear crossover coolant pipe breakage and repair, replaced water pump and...

Change out differential and transfer case fluids

This is the second time I do the diff and transfercase (119K miles now). For the differentials used Castrol Syntrax, transfercase used Royal Purple SYNCHROMAX, which according to their website is a match of the Shell TF0753 that is listed in the shop manual. Rear was easy, the removed 1.2L...

Transfer Case & Differential Fluid Specification

This past weekend was the second time doing the fluids change, every 60K miles on my 2012. I used Castrol Syntrax (need two liters) for the differentials and Royal Puple Syncrhomax (need 2 quarts) for the transfer case. The Synchromax meets the Shell requirements from the LR Shop manual, so no...

New 2012 LR4 owner with a few questions

The squeak is likely front bushings, seems fairly common. Other things to check or worry about at that mileage is the coolant crossover pipe (if it hasnt been replaced already) and if you do that, might as well do water pump at the same time. Front wheel bearings are worth checking as they...

    LR4 brakes soft/hard

I did a brake flush with a Motive bleeder, have been using those for over 20 years and as long as the hoses are good, it works great for "one man job". Was having similar issues with hard pedal and flushing it fixed it. Old fluid was reddish brown, new one is apple juice. You only need one...

    Windshield wipers obnoxiously scraping

Two things, well, 3 really you can do that have worked for me: check the nuts that hold the wiper arms down, mine where a little loose and was creating chatter Clean the blade part with 1/2 rubbing alcohol and 1/2 water and paper towel, a lot of black comes off when dirty Clay bar the...

Suspension fault driving fast on twisty mountain road

I wonder if the system overheated, due to the “spirited “ driving. If that was the case, the fault light should clear once it is cooled down.

Need advice from someone with offroad LR4 experience

I would suggest the original advise you got it not accurate. Sliders and tires, sure. The rest, wait until you can see what your stock LR2 can do, which is a lot. And you can get that in TX from the best one there, Joey Pitts at his 4WD Training School. Brilliant trainer, certified, and a LR...

    Cooper Zeon LTZ

Good reading on the link below, as there are many opinions on tire life. But looks like 6 years is a rule of thumb for many manufacturers. Nothing wrong with buying and using them in a couple of years, as long as you store them in the proper place with no sunlight and temp control. I have...

    Cooper Zeon LTZ

For those who have bought them, do you know the manufacturers date on the tires? Would be a code with week number and year number. Sometimes overstock sales can be to get rid of old tires that were not moving.

    2012 fault lights!!!!

Most code readers will not clear airbag or seatbelt related issues. So don’t feel bad about it. There is likely another connector in the dash, or under it, that will use a tool to read and reset airbags or seatbelt errors. I learned when replacing a seatbelt buckle on a Honda CR-V, found the...

Steering wheel shaking after rotor/pads replacement

As for warped rotors, I recommend reading through this first The "Warped" Brake Disc and Other Myths of the Braking System By Stoptech.
