LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

I have read the fill procedure but I cannot remember how many more quarts it will inhale when running the engine to thermostat open and shifting through the gears. 5 has brought me up to the fill port cold. It has been sitting a week. Will it take two more quarts?

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

I just now realized the torque order shown in this wonderful write-up is totally different from the FSM page 2642. This is from the middle out and the FSM works from opposite corners in. Two different philosophies or what?

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

Update: it appears the Assenmacher AFTOY118 adapter might work to fill the ZF even though it is designated for Toyota/Lexus. What do you think? I am a sucker for tools:)

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

Much appreciated! I bought a Holt extractor/filler at HF. Not quite as nice as yours and no tools supplied. I may be able to use one of the Assenmacher nozzles I bought for my Aisins. Was just thinking such a famous tranny as the ZF 8 speed might have a dedicated filler nozzle.

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

What filling tool do folks recommend to hook into the fill port? My idea of siphoning old fluid out does not work at all as I cannot insert the nylon tube from my extractor more than a half inch or so. I had hoped to avoid the mess of draining right over the exhaust pipe. I have given up on that...

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

I have read the entire thread. Is it possible to siphon at least some of the old fluid out to minimize draining mess? I have only the large drain port located directly above the exhaust pipe. Was thinking of trying to bend a pipe to reach down through the fill port. How much will pour out of the...

    Tires

X3 on the LTX. We bought them because we thought the siping might lessen the blinding flood of water from our flooded streets. They are almost done now. Would the Defender or the CrossClimate be better at handling the splash?

Any DIY tips out there on replacing a 2016 LR4 SCV6 Thermostat Housing?

What is the feasibility of snaking that thermostat out from underneath? Has anyone tried that?

    Cosmetic for sun damage?

The clear shows no sign of flaking. It just seems to be vaporizing, probably by heat. We see that very often in the desert. It is epidemic on darker colored Chrysler Corp vans with the angled hood. Not so terrible on flat surfaces like the LR hood. No, it was washed regularly but never waxed...

    Cosmetic for sun damage?

So, 8 years of desert sun have taken a toll on our Corris Grey LR. I know the correct fix is a new paint job. In the meantime is there something I could apply to make it look better?

    2016 LR4 Negative battery terminal

looks to me like you need to loosen the extender nut, then push the clamp way down on the post so there will be a gap, giving you some space to tighten.

    Mudflaps to catch rocks

You need the OEM rears for sure. The first time we drove on the sharp cracked gravel used here on rural roads towing our Cricket trailer behind, we were horrified to hear and see gravel hitting the trailer and bouncing back off the rear glass. We bought the OEM fronts as well to prevent gravel...

yes, the fake chrome ones when shopping on the LR parts sites, the warning is they do not fit a 2015 model.

Water pump replaced, still leaking coolant

I would climb up on the engine, reach back to the rear heater manifold pipe and feel for coolant slime, even though it is new. Ours has been oozing for 6 years now, about a pint every 3 or 4 months, not enough to drip but I can see the orange stain way back along the ******. Bought a new...

    Rearview Mirror Covers

I really want to replace our sun-damaged mirror covers with the bright finish covers shown as accessories in our 2015 LR Brochure. According to LR’s online parts catalogue the bright finish fits only ‘16 to ‘22 models and I need the paint-to-match covers used from ‘14-‘17. I do see that the...
