Same here, on my 08 L322 I have to push the brake pedal to re-engage drive from neutral, so that always causes a slight bump when exiting a conveyor wash, but nothing like the OP is describing. I am curious what systems on the L405 are engaging to create such a nightmare...- catman

I think the original Hitachi was not all that bad really, there was an issue with the drier and beads getting clogged but my Hitachi lasted 13 years with the drier/beads being replaced at the 5 year and 90k mark. I think the switch the the AMK was more the result of the Hitachi plant getting... -

No Sound From Radio/Nav/Bluetooth
I have had this issue in my LR3 roughly 10 times in almost 9 years. I feel it occurs when I turn the key in a certain way, like I don't fully turn it to on, but just enough to barely engage the starter and release it. I have no proof, but on a few occassions I did notice how I flipped the key... -

I can't say for sure what LR did with the LR4, but aparently with the Defender there are lots of features that are "pre-installed" in every car and then just turned on or off via software. Maybe this "Mo" person in the UK would know, or Simon at PowerfulUK, as he likes to dig into these kinds... -

I think the 14-16 LR4 looks are a bit too upscale for steel wheels, at least in Fuji white. Black may work better. It's still a nice setup, but I think it would work better on a LR3 in this case. But these things are all subjective - as long as you love it that is all that matters! -

Nokian WR G4
I agree as well, the Michelin Crossclimate (which comes in the size I run 265/60/18) is supposedly a great performing SUV tire, but I don't think it fits the character of an LR3 or LR4...I guess I'd have to see it on one, but it seems more like a performace summer tire in aesthetics. -

Well I'd like to know what the maintenance bills were to get to 400K miles! It looks remarkably clean for that much mileage, so I suspect this person spared no expense in keeping it maintained. Good to know it can get there! -

I actually think the test mules were the perfect modern take on the old Defender. They looked beefy and chiseled and I though that was going to be a sure-fire hit; it was not until studying the images hours later that it was evident to me that the hood and roof lines were just cosmetic cover... -

Looks like the new 2021 D5 has been unleashed, the rear is fundamentally the same but with the changes it is somewhat softer on the eyes. However, the diesel has been dropped in the US, so if you want diesel, you better get a 2020 while they are still here...- catman

Just bought an LR4. Needs cosmetic attention. Advice?
My rear AC vents in my LR3 look exactly like yours! The previous owner had replacements in the glove box, but I also saw that the center console needed to be removed to do it (in theory) and so I just let it go. I do not have kids, just dogs in back and so the rear gets beat up anyway for me. -

That seems odd - considering how the Defender is vital to LR sales and the US makers just keep making their SUV's bigger, you would think 130 would be needed to compete with the Yukons, Suburbans, Escalades, etc.. Of course, the US is just one market, so perhaps the 130 is not wanted as much in...- catman

I don't know if there are more sipes, but there is definately less room for snow to pack in between the lugs, and a lot of what we get here is heavy/wet slushy snow, which packs hard. They may perform better in dry fluffy/granular snow. I am about due for tires myself, so I am on the fence... -

I have the Wildpeak AT3W on my LR3 and they are also branded with the snowflake symbol, but honestly, they are not that great in the snow. In fact my wife will not drive my LR3 in the snow because of them. I have found the tires to be excellent in dry and wet conditions, but average in snow... -

Well, Jim Ratcliffe is worth roughly 18 billion and Elon Musk is worth roughly 83 billion, but Jim Ratcliffe does not have to fund a Space Company, so they are not too far apart in my book - he seems to have the resources to make it work, if he really wants to go all the way.
