Just wanted to report back on this. They were the newer guides that failed. So new timing chain, new guides, and some part of the engine that needed rebuilding due to this. Replaced rear brakes as well as a new radiator. Since I’ve gotten it back, I now have no heat/air flowing in the front... -

Very true! It doesn't say that. I have some old emails with the service department that I need to go through, and I'm almost certain they did, but it doesn't say it on there! -

I have a 2012 LR4. A few years back, while still under warranty, the dealer "replaced" timing chain and guides. They had my car for over 4 months, damaged other areas of my vehicle, and we always suspected that they never actually replaced anything just by our interactions with them. And so... -

What do you mean match without the repaint? Are they not painted and come from the factory the oberon color? Sorry - this is all new to me. Yes, definitely need at least 2 covers, since at least one clip was broken on 2 of them. -

Just another quick update, as LR dealer attempted to return my vehicle again today on the 4 month anniversary of them taking it in. They painted all 4 door handles to match the first wrong color, without asking me first. They again repainted all 4. Color seems to be ok now...but we opened the... -

Last I heard from Corporate was that the dealer had satisfied their requirement to fix the ticking and that they were sending it to have the door handle/scratch fixed - "if there's anything else we can do to help, please let us know." -

Does each engine have a unique serial number?
Just wondering if each LR4 has a unique serial number tied to the VIN or is the serial number tied to all vehicles manufactured in a particular year. For example, all 2012 V8's have the same serial number. Thanks! -

Honestly, I'm not thrilled with the look of the XC90. I love the look of the LR4 -- because it doesn't look like every rounded egg vehicle out there. Since I've had the F-Pace as a loaner, we've been trying to see how many others we see on the road...we've seen 2 or 3 others in 3 months, but... -

Thank you for all of the responses. Still working on this with them, and I think it will be a bit of time before we come to a resolution. Just wondering where on the engine would I find the serial number?
