I'M FED UP WITH THE DOORS LOCKING AT 8 MPH!

Sure, it seems like a great idea to someone in design, but when delivering equipment on the fireline, unless I turn off the engine, everything locks and I have to push the "unlock" button to get to the back doors and boot. Anyone know how to stop this? HELP!

    New spare tire swing-out option

I got tired of $1500+ prices for a rear mount. So I built my own from a bicycle carrier. Total cost was $150.

    Tyre Trek Swing Away

I got so tired of looking for a good spare tire carrier that I built my won from a bicycle carrier rack. It works great on-road and off-road. Here's the link to the video.

Spare Tire Access with Drawer Kits

I BUILT MY OWN SLIDING DRAWER AND SPARE TIRE RACK I got so tired of trying to find A SLIDING DRAWER that I decided to build my own. Using garage door tracks for the rails, I built a simple platform and made it accessible from the passenger side to the rear. It travels 3' to the rear. It cost...

    Gas Tank not filling up

When that happens, I just pull the nozzle back and hold the "gas shield" on the nozzle back a 1/4" to let the pressure out and continue filling the tank. Works for me

    Combining spare-on-bumper with bike rack

This is what I did for my LR3. Got tired of having to lower the spare from the roof. I made it from a bicycle rack.

There she blows, (maybe coolant crossover)

My 2005 LR3 developed a leak in the coolant recovery jug and the damn sensor on the bottom didn't register the lack of fluid. (No fluid - no sensor alert). I blew the head gasket and $4,000 later, the mechanic said "Oh, BTW, you need another recovery container." $15 at the local junk yard...

Looking for a 19" off road tire.

I've used the Atturo 19" tires for a couple of years. I bought them at about $79 from Prime Tire on the Internet with free shipping. As an emergency vehicle, I need reliable tires, and these are it. Out of 9 tires purchased, I had one that had tread separation and they replaced it at no cost...

    Air suspension shock replacement

NEVER EVER USE <MAXSPEEDINGRODS> I was desperate and after checking prices and reviews, I went with them because of their factory warranty. They arrived and I had them professionally installed. Within 2 weeks, they were leaking. I contacted Maxspeedingrods and they said they'd send out...

Using the 12v trunk plug without cutting out after 3 minutes?

I got so tired of this problem and the fact that the wire (not cable) that goes to the trunk is too small a gauge to run anything worthwhile. I just drilled a hole for another 12V socket and ran a #12 wire all the way to the engine compartment and plugged it in to the "constant on" fuse...

    Buying a used high mileage 2010 LR4

I get questioned all the time "Isn't that an "expensive" vehicle to take off-roading? And I tell them. Nah, it was $75K when I bought it and I average about $2,000 a year in repairs. Don't even think of gas prices. It only has 220K miles on it, but it is one incredible piece of junk - but...

    Drivers window not working

Had the same problem on my LR3, found a switch at the local wrecking yard. Installed it and no change, then I found the fuse block and the fuse had blown. It specifically says DRIVER WINDOW SWITCH. Replaced it and it worked.

    2006 LR3 HSe wiring question

I had the same problem. Got so tired of the LR3 passenger side getting wet from the AC overflow that I drilled 5 holes in the floor so it would drain. Then put in a metal raised floor panel under the carpet so the water would drain out. ATTENTION: When the AC drains, it gets into the CPU and...

    Well crap!

My LR3 has 230,000 miles on it and the engine went at 150,000 because the damned coolant recovery bottle sprung a leak and because the temperature sensor is located on the bottom of it, did not register the heat rise (REALLY STUPID DESIGN.) During our riots here, I drove it to LA hoping that...

Why is the "most capable 4x4" so fragile ?

It's a given "The LR-3 is a piece of junk - but it's my piece of junk!" I drove military grade rovers for years and the big joke was "When you roll it - get out immediately and get it back on it's wheels - otherwise the oil will rain on the spark plugs and you'll never get it running..." So...

    L322 coolant level question

I've just got to put in my 2 cents worth. The coolant recovery tank is a joke. No intelligent engineer would ever put the sensor at the bottom of a tank that if cracked, would not indicate a high heat condition. Cost me $4,000 to replace the heads when I ran out of coolant and there was no...

I'M GETTING TOO OLD FOR THIS........ SPARE TIRE CARRIER BUILT

It seems like forever that I had my 19" spare mounted on the roof rack of my LR-3. Been through fires, mud slides and raging torrents. All was well and good until I hit a rock and popped the RR Tire. That's when I found out that being 78 YO means that it was a real ***** to lower the tire...

    Dashboard Cracks - Repaired

I was looking at the cracks and I remembered that I had purchased some BLACK RUBBER FLEX SEAL. So what did I have to lose? I painted over the cracks with a brush and waited 24 hours between each coat (3X). Here's the final coat and in 72 hours I'll sand it down. The sealant flowed into the...

    One Problem After Another.....

Yes, I'm biased. I have an $80K LR-3 that seems to come up with yearly mind-boggling problems. I had the same problem and it boiled down to the ECU connectors in the engine compartment getting corroded from a leak in the heater core. First sigh of a problem was when the heat gauge stopped...

    Jacking Options

The High lift jack is necessary when you're in the outback. Carry a 2' X 2' piece of 1/2" rug covered plywood to put between the jack and the door panel. Hi lift jacks were made to lift tractors, not "cars". Always carry a HD base plate to go with the High Lift jack, otherwise it will sink...

    No idea what happened

Stupid land rover. I developed a crack in the coolant recovery bottle. SURPRISE!!! the heat sensor is in the bottle, the coolant leaked out and with no liquid in it, the heat gauge didn't work. $4,000 later, I had the heads replaced. Really bad design. Check your coolant bottle for cracks.

    Blown head gasket

Been there, done that. THE 2006 LR-3 has got to be Gods revenge on us for leaving the Commonwealth. LOL. The temperature gauge is part of the overflow containment system. So when that leaks, you get no indication that there is NO WATER. Bam-Sizzle-Pop, blown head gasket. To make a long...
