2013 LR4 Rear Axle Fault, Stability control not available, Emergency brake assist not available, HDC not available system fault

@Aderry late to the game here, I’ve been fully immersed in the Grenadier world. I’ve had the same issue before. The actuator stepper motor can get stuck. Give it a slight tap with a mallet and see if it frees up. After that you’ll have to put the rear diff through a calibration test to reset...

    Defender vs. Mazda mx5.

“A blue Mazda CX-5 is in lane 2 and is about to miss the 5th lane exit. He abruptly cuts in front of a truck from lane 2 with almost zero notice - clipping a New Defender in lane 4 & sending it rolling at least 6 times!” It’s not an mx5/miata. But still. Crazy roll. A highway speed elk test…

    Poor man’s CarPlay installed

I had one that replaced the factory head unit. The type marketed as ‘Tesla’ style. Anyway it lasted 2 years. Started flickering, ran really hot and the contrast started going, that was in addition to the horrendous glitches and software crashes. So back to the og I went. To be honest. In my...

Trusted transmission shops in LA area?

Sounds like you’ve got your bases covered. Let the forum know if they take off the body or remove it from underneath. Apparently it’s possible underneath but a real pain. Fingers crossed you get another 150k :)

Trusted transmission shops in LA area?

It’s pretty involved from what I read, easiest with the body off. I’d do everything I could to avoid it. Have you tried resetting the adaptations, and verifying the fluid level etc? Have a read of this older thread.

    Transmission oil leak........

You can warm the new fluid before you put it in the transmission as well. It lessens the time you need to run the engine for. The temp stipulation is only there because of the coefficient of expansion of the fluid to get the correct working level.

Correct procedure for checking transmission fluid level on 2010 LR4 URGENT! :(

Yes. The torque reading on your wrench is calculated from the center of the square drive portion. The extra lever action of the special tool determines the calculation.

Correct procedure for checking transmission fluid level on 2010 LR4 URGENT! :(

https://penriteoil.com.au/assets/tech_pdfs/154 ZF 6spd Filling Instructions.pdf Pretty much the 6 speed and 8 speed require you to have the torque converter full (which is why they say to cycle the gears) on the initial fill and then at the respective temp filling until overflow. That’s how...

    Gear selector compatibility

I was faced with the same option. Get calling and you’ll track one down. Took me a few hours but I got one next day.

    Gear selector compatibility

Here’s some pictures for comparison. And a warning to everyone else. These electronic gear selectors don’t like cola being poured on them. Also just before it died the illumination ring went out.

    Gear selector compatibility

Not sure on that part number. But the correct one is LR090489 this is for the module with the black top, silver dial The Land Rover name for this part is “module -transfer shift control” Mine failed earlier this year and it was a nightmare to get a replacement. I called 15 dealers all over...

LR4 Front coolant outlet tube BS

Ask them the procedure they used to bleed the cooling system after repairing. It’s quite specific on this cooking system. Either way. Sounds like you got lucky :)

    Leaking air spring replacement

I’ve a spare rear shock I’ll get a pic of for you. Also don’t forget that there’s a bush at the bottom of the shock where it’s bolted to the control arm. These get tired as well….

    Leaking air spring replacement

The (black) B4 are the replacement to oem+ spec, gas filled as opposed to fluid (I think). The yellow ones are uprated and quite a bit former, im not surprised they didn't like the ride.

    Leaking air spring replacement

I'm in the process of editing. The ride is much more fluid, it's hard to describe, but it doesn't crash over the *** holes anywhere near as much, braking etc will be slightly improved without the noticeable body dip when you push the pedal, cornering as well will be slightly improved. However...

    Leaking air spring replacement

I just replaced my shock absorbers with the bilstein units and they’re epic. I don’t use that term lightly. The air springs I reused, they’re at 75k miles and after a good inspection they’re in remarkably good condition. Just make sure you use a seal kit for the upper portion, where the rod...

    Windshield wind noise.

I went through a similar thing. A few notes from my experience. 1. Not all clips are created equal. I couldn’t find any that were not original LR parts that held as tightly. 2. If the trim piece is original then look to make sure that the 2 locating pieces are in place. One at the top and one...

    Aluminum crossovers exist now! (maybe)

Great notes tx. One thing I noted when I replaced mine was that the O rings had become very soft compared with new spares from LR. The other thing that would make me pause is the type if alloy they have used. Different aluminum alloys in the presence of coolant when they start to leak past the...

    Bad tie rod ends?

Have you tried rebalancing the front wheels? If this is slightly off it can cause issues at various speeds depending on how far out it is.
