Hi all,

I have a faulty gear selector module in my 2016 LR4 HSE Lux, part#EH22-7E453-AC. Currently a 3 month back order from local dealer, wondering if one of the 3x priced eBay options part#EH22-7E453-AD is compatible with my truck?

Any insight is appreciated.

Not sure on that part number. But the correct one is

LR090489 this is for the module with the black top, silver dial

The Land Rover name for this part is “module -transfer shift control”

Mine failed earlier this year and it was a nightmare to get a replacement. I called 15 dealers all over North America. Crazy back order and there were none available in the main jlr spares depot in the uk.

If you can get one then grab it. I was reluctant to go with a potential knock off from china. As this module is a show stopper if it fails and I do go into the desert with the kids quite a lot.

Anyway. If and when you get a spare it’s a simple plug and play to change. I’ve some video somewhere if you get into trouble.

Good luck.

Here’s some pictures for comparison.

And a warning to everyone else. These electronic gear selectors don’t like cola being poured on them.

Also just before it died the illumination ring went out.

Thanks for the reply, I’ve pulled the faulty module out to confirm part number. Easy piece to replace, simple plug and four screws and it’s out. Just worried the eBay version will be knockoff. Of course, only other option is truck sits for 3 months, so worth the risk. I’ll post the results when replaced.

Pics of the old as I pulled it out.

I was faced with the same option. Get calling and you’ll track one down. Took me a few hours but I got one next day.

Update: eBay part arrived today, although purchased from seller that claimed to be in US, item shipped from China. Arrived in reasonable time, part appears genuine based on packaging. Installed tonight and truck is now driving like normal. Will have to drive for a bit to see if part fails, but quick spin in town showed no problems. I think I’m better off than the 3 month wait dealer stated, only time will tell.

Hi Chris,
When you installed the new module did you have to have Land Rover service so a software check? I am in the same situation. Looking for a part currently, but also wondering if I get the part and install it, do I have to have the software updated by Land Rover also?

I did this last year. Just swapped the part and it worked fine. No weird codes in IIDtool either.
