    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

Got quoted $4k by a couple of shops for a single-side head rebuild. Youch! Most shops said they would lift the body off the frame to do the work for easier access. Anyone have any ideas if this sounds like the "going rate" for a job like this? Trying to decide to sell the truck "as is" and break...

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

Well guys, the leak down test doesn’t lie! Looks like pretty good compression on most of the cylinders, but cylinder 5 is DEAD. TDC shows about 10psi at 100psi pressure and heavy air leak through the exhaust. Looks like we got a burned exhaust valve! Time to break out the pocketbook.

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

I have a BlueDriver, nothing fancy but we use them at my work at they work pretty well for general diag and abs codes. I’ve heard good things about the GAP tool though, might be one more thing to add to the toolbox.

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

I'm borrowing a leak-down tester from a friend this afternoon so I'll know a little more after that, but you make a good point with the coil harness. I'll get the multimeter out and check it in the meantime. Good idea, thanks!!

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

Funny enough I actually run a Jeep rental company up here so I'm out on the trails all the time in the company Jeeps doing trail maintenance! I'd love to take this LR4 up Broken Arrow and see what I can break though! haha, you should definitely come up and do some trails! Maybe wait until around...

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

Quick update: Replaced all injectors, coil packs, and spark plugs on bank 1. Still misfiring on cylinder 5 only. Don’t really mind throwing parts at it as its due for a lot of this stuff anyways, I figure it’s preventative maintenance going forward. But damn I’d like to be able to drive it at...

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

New injectors coming in today, I'm going to replace all injectors on Bank 1 and see where that leads me... Probably should've done the leak down test first but the leak down tester I ordered came broken and I'm in a pretty rural area so the replacement guage will be a few days out.

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

^^Yes, new rig to me. Looking at the condition of the #5 injector that came out with the rail, it had a good amount of carbon build up. Hard to say if it was original or not but I would agree with @ryanjl that it seems awfully coincidental that both the coil pack, as well as the injector from...

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

Very possible! I have quite a bit of experience under the hood as a Porsche Racing mechanic, but this one is throwing me for a loop.

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

After reading my fuel trims I am realizing that I probably left the vacuum line under the intake plenum undone. Going to reconnect and get new fuel trim data.... Stay posted. EDIT: Fuel trims w/ plenum reattached posted above

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

Not much trouble, the fuel rail was on there pretty good, but once it was removed the #5 injector came right out with the fuel rail. Replaced O-rings on the other 3 that were still in the head, threw in the new injector on cyl #5 and it all went back together easily without leaks.

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

The injector on cylinder #5 was just replaced, but that could definitely be the case for the other cylinders. I just ordered the other 7 injectors and plan on replacing the rest of them tomorrow, just wanted to replace 1 to try and isolate the problem since they aren't too terribly hard to get...

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

I just pulled a few more plugs on that bank, looks like 3/4 had this dark fluid on them. Some smelled more like oil, others more like fuel so perhaps it's just fuel. I'm now thinking the same thing and wondering if a head rebuild is in my future. I'll try and get a leak-down test going tonight...

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

I don't believe the threads are stripped as the plug has no problem threading in or out, and it torques up just fine when tightening. Hard to visually inspect the threads without an endoscope though. No visible smoke on startup or while driving that I've been able to notice either! This one has...

    Misfire Cylinder 5 - Advice?

Hello Everyone! New to the LRW Forum Just picked up an LR4 5.0 w/ 145k miles and a cylinder #5 misfire at a fair price(Purchased w/ the misfire intending to repair). Getting it home I put the scanner on it and obtained CEL P0305 & P0316 P0305: Cylinder #5 misfire P0316: Misfire on the first...
