    05 LR3 transmission trouble

The Transmission Control Module is located in the transmission, it’s part of the valve body mechatronix. The box behind the battery is the Transfer Case Control Module.

    Rear suspension leak

Check the Voss fittings into the rear valve block. It’s very common for at least one to leak after messing with them.

    Control Arms

Here’s a 3 minute of the rear bush being replaced in car: The Sykes tool is very expensive, but I’ve seen them for sale second hand (only from UK unfortunately). A cheaper bushing tool from Amazon should work, I know I’ve read of guys using this one: WINTOOLS 27 Pcs Universal Press & Pull...

Wind noise/hum on newly acquired LR3

Few ideas for hunting this down: 1) Painters tape around your windshield. See if it still persists after that, then you’ll know if it’s the windshield seal. 2) Try opening each door window individually when on the highway. Could be one of those seals. 3) Inspect your door to body seals. 4)...

    05 LR3 transmission trouble

Did this maintenance item recently, and while it’s only gotten a few hundred miles post repair, the transmission does feel improved during stop-and-go driving. The 4 tubular valve body seals on mine had gotten moderately brittle and shrank 1mm. They probably were not sealing very well any longer.

    Air suspension shock replacement

RA has Arnott back in stock. Just saw them last week when I was checking their selection.

    05 LR3 transmission trouble

Yeah, sorry to deliver that news. Definitely sounds like valve body issues. I would have started with seals, solenoids, filter and fluid since that’s relatively easy. Since you’ll have to go back in, you’ll need to decide if you want to just do seals or want to also rebuild the valve body...

    05 LR3 transmission trouble

When you did the solenoids did you replace the valve body seals? 4 rubber tubes and a bridge seal. These are known to cause trouble when they begin to leak, causing shift issues. I’ve only heard of it being a downshift issue, not sure if it can cause problems on the upshift.

    Air suspension shock replacement

I’ve read mixed reviews on Arnott lately. You can order BWI (which bought out Delphi, the OE supplier) through Advanced Factors UK —I’m leaning toward that should I need to replace mine.

Battery/alternator issues - do these voltages look healthy?

I agree with Bbyer. The alternator voltages typically are well above 14v to charge the battery after starting and then reduces to mid-low 13 after running for a while.

What should I strip off this LR3 for spare parts for my LR4?

Those flares won’t fit an LR4 without swapping the fenders, headlights, and front bumper. I’d grab air valve blocks, ride height sensors (if cheap), roof rails (if needed), wheels (if they will sell them, some won’t for whatever reason). The air compressor could be good for a spare if you have...

Just exceeded warranty, where is everyone buying oil and Filters from to perform fluid change

FYI, that was on their TDV6 in the Discovery 3, which is a different engine design than the diesel available in the Discovery 4. Over on the Disco3.uk.co forums there is disagreement about this oil recommendation. The LR mechanics there stand by the 5w30 recommendation. To each their own!

    2006 LR3 SUSPENSION HELP

    2. A hissing coming from the front right wheel well means the strut has a leak right? Audible hissing is a large leak, should be easy to find with soapy water. Considering you refreshed your front valve block, which is also at the front right wheel, I would get the valve block in addition to...

    Onboard Spare parts when off-roading/overlanding

Post #15 on this thread has a pretty extensive spares list. Cannot say I agree that everything is necessary, but it certainly is a list which can be whittled down. https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic76762-15.html

    Erratic Suspension Leak

I must eat some crow. Based on the wager of beer, I revisited my LR L319 shop manual and it does not stipulate EAS calibration as part of the air shock remove and replace procedure. This does make sense considering the ride height sensor is effectively what calls for air… I feel like I’ve read...

    Erratic Suspension Leak

Your current problem is probably that you still have one leaking air strut and the computer is periodically releveling the car. I was wrong about this. A replaced strut shouldn’t impact the alignment since the ride height sensor dictates the movement of air into/out of the strut. There are no...

    Erratic Suspension Leak

Nothing I said was wrong, or misleading. (Edit: some of it was…) The pressure in the bag is regulated by a reading from the height sensor at each corner. The pressure of the airbag is not important, the computer simply increases (or decreases) the volume of air in the bag until the appropriate...

Need some help with an engine squeak/squeal...

JLR might be different, but normally parts and labor warranties only extend to the owner at the time of repair. You might want to confirm that.

    Erratic Suspension Leak

Air struts should be replaced in pairs so their damping and spring rates match. If you intend to DIY on this vehicle, you do need a GAP tool. Yes, they are expensive, but they are wholly necessary for executing many repairs. If you are lucky you can perhaps find a used one for $350-400 in the...

    Erratic Suspension Leak

It’s actually quite reasonable for the vehicle to stay at height, or leak less slowly, at off road height than when at normal height. It’s fairly common, in fact. As the air bags are filled or deflated, different surfaces of the bag are sealed against the strut casing and different surfaces...

Selling GAP ID Tool for LR4

Since it’s new it should be the BT version, and that can be used on LR3, LR4,RRS, and other late models (see GAP website). Used ones list for $350-450, look at any Land Rover forum classifieds

Curt trailer Hitch install info for a 2012 LR4?

I don’t, I read about it on Expedition Portal or another LR forum. If you call Rhino they should be able to set you straight. I have an OEM hitch, so just trying to share information. Sorry I missed your reply, I didn’t get an alert. Hopeful this is still helpful to you.

    Weird suspension fault

Definitely need codes, but given it is intermittent and that no dash messages are displayed it is likely what Land Rover classifies as a “minor fault.” The most minor faults are ride height sensor failures. A single faulty sensor won’t impact any driving characteristics, but will throw an alert...

Curt trailer Hitch install info for a 2012 LR4?

Rhino did a recall on the Ox hitch early this year. I wouldn’t be worried about using a NEW hitch bought direct, but would be careful of resale units that didn’t have the revised design. I don’t have any photos of before/after to share.

    Sunroof drain preventative maintenance?

I’m not sure, but I think Land Rover revised the sunroof drains by 2007. My 2008 LR3 didn’t have the same style elbow at the footwell that I saw on photos/videos of 2005/2006 LR3s getting repaired. The issue with the early LR3 was the elbow drying out and breaking, leaving the tube exiting in...
