    LR4 5.0L overheating at idle

Ya not a bad idea. I didn't really consider it because of no coolant loss, but can't hurt.

    LR4 5.0L overheating at idle

A few weeks ago we were on bit of an excursion with a couple of other trucks and I had a bit of a scare with the LR4. We were waiting for the other vehicles to go up an icy hill and Idling for 5-10 mins. Outside temp was about 0C (32F) and I looked down at the temp gauge and it was to the very...

When did your crossover go and is your climate HOT (CA, NM, AZ, TX, LA, etc) or COOL (PNW, northeast, etc)

I did my front crossover when I replaced the original water pump at 85K miles. The flanged ends were a bit brittle and were starting to deteriorate. I think it was definitely at the very end of its life. I did the rear crossover/heater manifold at 95K miles and it still looked new. I know for...

power steering fluid in bellows - problem?

I would assume your PS fluid level has been consistent? If you haven't had to top it up then I wouldn't worry about it. As far as I know, the rack isn't serviceable so i would leave it be until either it starts leaking or your steering is affected.

numerous codes after lower control arms installed

Just curious... Did the mechanic who replaced the lower control arms recommend an alignment at that time? If not, why? Is it a shop, or a guy working out if his garage?

numerous codes after lower control arms installed

Yes it is pretty straight forward but should be done by someone familiar with LR's from my understanding. There are eccentric bolts that fasten the lower control arms (LCA's) and they are one of the components adjusted when doing an alignment. Even if your mechanic marked the old ones and...

    Intermittent heavy steering

Turns out the u-joint in the lower steering shaft was seized. I'm thinking that because the joint was seized that the shaft entering the rack was deflecting and therefore causing fluid to leak between the shaft and the seal. That leak was what made me jump to the conclusion of a faulty rack and...

numerous codes after lower control arms installed

After replacing the LCA's you need to do an alignment. I had the same issue immediately after replacing my LCA's and the alignment fixed it up. Although it should be mentioned that the only fault I had was a suspension fault (dash lit up) but not all the other stuff you have. Could be the code...

    Intermittent heavy steering

Last week after a sharp U-turn the steering on our LR4 is suddenly intermittently heavy. It feels like the power steering cuts in and out a few times for every turn. My initial thought was that the PS pump was on it's way out. Put it up on the hoist today to inspect and turn without a load. When...

    Normal Coolant Level Drop?

Do you ever smell coolant after parking it? I would double check the water pump and all of the other cooling system components, including rear crossover (heater manifold), thermostat etc. There should be obvious signs of leaking even if it's minor. Even though you used all original parts that...

    Normal Coolant Level Drop?

I would assuming that you are always checking the engine while it's cold? I think you have a small leak somewhere. Ambient temperature shouldn't make a difference. It's a closed system. I had a similar situation after replacing the water pump. I used a crappy water pump from Lucky8 and it...

Front Air Struts - time to replace...what else "while I'm in there"?

How are your LCA's? Any clunking when going over speedbumps? Where are you getting the struts from, and how much $ if you don't mind me asking. I'll be doing mine soon as well and I'm also in Calgary.

    Leaking air spring replacement

1/4" push connect union did the trick to repair the damaged air line. Quick and easy and air tight. When I have time I may revisit and replace the line but for now I'm pretty confident it'll work.

    Leaking air spring replacement

Turns out to be best case scenario I think. The front valve block had worked its way off of it's mount and was laying in the space between the fender liner and the back of the bumper. It's been bouncing around for a while it looks like and it wore down the green air line and sprung a leak. I'll...

    Leaking air spring replacement

Yes that is a very good point. After looking up the Arnott strut assembly it's only another $100 per side. No Brainer on that. Looks like I jumped the gun though. Just went to confirm with some soapy water and I discovered that the leak wasn't coming from the air spring. It's coming from...

    Leaking air spring replacement

Did a little bit of off-roading last weekend and Monday morning I noticed the front suspension was very low with minimal space between the fender and the tire. Figured something was up so I went for a test ride and sure enough I got a suspension fault about 10 mins into the ride. As soon as I...

    SCV6 overheated and then catastrophe

If you lost oil pressure would there not be warning lights on the dash? From the time you lose oil pressure to the time of engine failure due to overheat should be a couple minutes at least, no?

    SCV6 overheated and then catastrophe

From what I can see it looks like both crossovers are on there. LR122710 Manifold - heater (I believe this is commonly referred to as a rear crossover) LR090630 Water inlet tube (I think this would be your front crossover?) At a glance it looks like they have at least listed all of the...

    SCV6 overheated and then catastrophe

That doesn't sound plausible to me but I'm not a mechanic. To lose that much coolant that quickly doesn't sound like a head gasket. I suppose anything is possible but I suspect they may be trying to cover their tracks for the previous work that may, or may not have been done. Either way it...

    SCV6 overheated and then catastrophe

They can't find the source of the catastrophic coolant leak? Is this the same shop that supposedly did the previous work? Sounds like a crossover failure to me. Did you get the old parts back when they did the original work?

2013 heater manifold (back crossover) replacement questions

2013 heater manifold (back crossover) replacement questions

Do you work for Lucky8 lol. $100 for parts that will basically fit in a letter envelope and $84 to ship? I get lots of stuff shipped from the US and nothing comes close to the shipping cost from Lucky. I'm sure they tack on a significant handling charge, but I digress. I didn't know that it...
