I recently noticed that my radio doesn't work. the Tape player and CD function (via CD Changer) works but when i'm on the radio the radio doesn't play. also when i leave the car the display on the radio stays on. At first i thought nothing of it when one morning i was going to work and my car wouldn't start because the battery was drained.

can someone please shed some light on this.

thanks

I have no direct experience with this Land Rover problem: but I'm an electronics guy and here goes with the most common ..
You have something jammed in the cassete mechanical mechanism that prevents a complete shut down of the radio. It's a sophisticated radio and wants to retract the roller mechanism(s) before stopping the pinch rollers. (Stopping without retracting kills your tapes). So, before you tear out the dashboard or your hair... turn off the vehicle in your usual manner and then put your ear up to the radio and listen for the sound of cassette rollers. If it continues more than a minute that's your problem. Use flashlight and locate piece of paper that fell off the label of an old tape, into the control switch. Tweezers to retrieve if you see it. BE GENTLE. You can't use the radio because the cassette has seized control of the radio by not turning off.
