I have a mysterious problem with my 89 classic. It is not driven very oftenl sart it up every 3 months or so. Well recently went out to start after first giving the battery a good charge, all that I get is a clicking sound coming from a relay or fuse ( shiny box about 1 inch square) located under the console glove box between the front seats.
I bought the battery in February of this year. Had it tested and it is o.k. I've checked all the connections, positive battery to starter, ground to body. What could be the problem?
This sounds funny I know but when the ignition switch is turned on, the tacho needle moves up to the 3500 rpm position and stays there until the key is turned off.
One more bit of information that might be helpful. I had plugged in a solar power charger in order to keep a good charge on the battery. Could it have done some damage somewhere, because pryor to this there was no problem starting. Please help if you have any information you could give. Thanks!
