Have a '95 Classic SWB that needs a new engine. Had the heads rebuilt but then found that it was the block that was bad.

Was told that the replacement must be the exact same year/model engine or I would run into difficulties (belts not lining up, etc.). Is this true?

Thx!

I can't see how if you are replacing a complete engine there would be an issue about belts not lining up etc?

there is a gent here in town that is known on the west coast as being the best rover engine builder. I'll get his name for you, he built the motor that is in the rover I just purchased and I've never driven a rover that runs this good and doesn't leak.
