97 DIsco - Steering clicking noise

This is Spencer again,

I just just bought a 97 Disco SD and another problem that I have is that whenever I have the steering chocked all the way to the left, and probably just over half way to the right, there is a loud clicking noise. I can hear it well enough to tell that it's coming from the wheel wells. any ideas as to what may be wrong?

So what have you checked so far?
My money would be on a bad CV joint, but could also be failing bearings and a swivel joint that needs servicing and a pre-load setting.
