2001 disco 2 w/65000 miles. As many disco owners I have the ABS,TC,and HDC amber caution lights illuminated. I assume the TC and HDC lights are only on because there is a problem with the ABS system as they rely on the ABS system. My question is with ABS sensors. can the sensor be replaced without replacing the entire hub? I have found several wed sites that sell just the sensor, but my service manual tells me to replace the hub (like the sensor and hub are all one unit, not repairable). Also is the sensor a magnet or something that can be cleaned with alcohol or brake cleaner? and finally does the ABS sensor only sense wheel speed or will worn brake pads and rotors set off the warning lights? I know of 3 disco 2 owners with the same ABS problems. they have gone to dealers and been charged thousands of dollars to get rid of the 3 dashboard lights when there is probably nothing really wrong with the system other than a poorly desinged electrical system. thanks in advance for any answers to my questions.
