The new spark plugs (Bosch Platinum 4+) in my 95 Disco have not been driven on for more than 2 miles. But the plugs are all already black. Is that normal? What could be wrong? Something I can do?

I think everyone here will agree with me to SEAFOAM that thing. I have a 95 w 104k on the clock, my seafoaming did not do to much beacause my engine is fairly clean but it did clean up a cold hesitiation. Just search threads and you will find plenty of info concerning this product and how to ingest it.
3 Cans is what I did Gas tank, Crankcase, and Ingest it through the vac at plenum. You may need more the way it sounds.
GOOD LUCK

SKC,
Your engine is running way to rich causing the blackness and needs to have someone look at it with the right testing equipment. I would think it could be anything from a failing coil to something in the fuel management system.
Good luck,
Mike J.

I just took it to a shop. They are looking at it right now.

But on the way there, the engine was knocking like crazy. It sounds perfectly fine at idle. And also if I give gas while parked, the engine revs up smoothly. But when I drive, its like theres a party going on inside.

Turns out that the I routed the plug wires wrong. 3 and 5 were in the wrong order. Hence the knocking. They corrected that and also corrected the timing. The plugs are fine too. They are the same size as stock and actually makes her run better.

The starting problem, they could not find, since she started right every time. The fuel pressure is fine, it seems. They said that I should probably change the battery since it did not seem to be holding any juice, whatever that means.

Now only to find where the fuel pump relays are so that I can check them out.

Tell me you didn't do that???
Just kidding, glad it was something simple.
Glad it is running better.
If you need a battery and there is a Costco around, go buy one of their Red Tops for $99, they are a supper battery.
Take care,
Mike J.

Will do. Thanks a bunch for all the advice Mike. Appreciate it a lot. The Magnacore with the Platinum 4+ plugs are great.

I could have sworn I checked and then double checked the routing of the wires. Not sure how I missed that.

The battery and the fuel pump relays are next. If only I can find the location of the relays.
