Brake Pedal Noise

Hello Land Rover Family. I recently joined the forum and I am so pleased to see so many Land Rover owners with trucks that have issues like mine. I recently have a new noise and I hope someone can tell me what it is. When my 06 LR3 is running in park and I step on the brake pedal, I hear a clicking noise coming from under the dashboard by my feet. What could this be??

the click is the disengagement of the transmission lock

Transmission / brake interlock

Yep, pretty normal although in my LR3 I hear it, but its very subtle. My advice would be to do stay tuned into the noise, if it starts sounding "Sickly" or "odd", pay attention.

Totally different truck, totally different design, but my old 2003 Discovery starting making a louder clunking noise all of a sudden one day when stepping on teh brake with the truck idling and in park. (louder than the normal "click") This continued for a few weeks and then one snowy day the damn thing would not shift out of park -- and it was because of the interlock switch / solenoid malfunctioning. Had to have it towed. So, if it sounds sick, might want to have it looked at !

Thanks for the info. I'll keep an ear on it. I hope it doesn't go. The interlock that is. I appreciate the info. Have you ever had a problem with the transmission module on your truck? Mine was reprogrammed once and appears to be getting stuck in 3rd or 4th gear every once in. While. I even had a code appear that read limited gears available.
