Thanks!! We already own an Audi S4 B7 Avant 6speed manual and it's blast to drive. Not the most reliable car either. Had to do the timing chain service at 89k miles and cost 6k. Thankfully extended warranty covered it.
... I considered a C5 A6 Allroad a while back also but heard that the air suspension going bad on those cars was costly. Lots of folks did the coil spring conversation to avoid those repair costs.
I bought one of the last end of year 2008 S4 Avant MT6, Dolpin Grey. Has a full APR exhaust system. Pretty awesome. So far no big issues although I do worry a little about the timing chain thing.
The C5 air springs are really not such a big deal with Arnott offering much better replacements at less than factory version cost. It's not even a particularly difficult DIY job.
I agree on the size concern with current A4 allroad. Thus why I got a 2008 BMW 535xi mt6 wagon few years back. It's a far better car in terms of comfort, size, features, and handling, but has become somewhat of a repairs nightmare as of late. I've put about 85,000 very comfortable and fun miles on it in 4 years though.
