Hi All

This week my rear driver side door won't unlock via the remote ( on a Disco II), and will only lock when I use the superlock function.

I can always open the door from the interior of the truck with the door handle.

If I press the lock button once from the key remote, the door does nothing. It won't lock if unlocked, won't unlock if locked.

If I press the lock button on the remote twice (superlock) the door will lock, but still allows me to open the door from the interior of the truck using the door handle (I thought that was what superlock prevented?).

Any Ideas? This happened once before on the same door, but the dealer said they didn't notice it happening, and it has worked happily for two years since then (they must have done something? I wish I knew what?)

Anybody have an idea?

I'm going to attempt an answer to my own question...

I was thinking about what the dealer may have done that would cause them to not notice a problem with the door lock. Then I remembered that they usually replace the battery in the Key.

I went out to my disco with the other set of Keys and guess what - the door works as it is supposed to.

I will replace the battery in the other Key - that should solve it.

Thanks anyway.

I am glad to hear you found the issue... I was thinking the lock acuator may have gone bad... I know on my D1 that is what is happening.... but one day I will fix it.

So much for the quick fix....It isn't always working again.

How hard is it to replace the door lock actuator? Any other ideas or is that pretty much it?

Thanks

Try some WD40. (alot) . I had the same problem for about 2 years. I finally tried to do something about it. I sprayed Very liberally around and inside every crack that I could fit the plastic nozzle into. Then by hand I manually moved the lock up and down quite a few times and then sprayed it some more.
My lock didnt work for 2 years and after I did this 2 months ago its worked ever since.
Hope it helps you.
