Have I been using the wrong gear oil

Ive been using valvoline synthetic 85w 140 in my diffs and transfer case will this be okay thanks

It will be fine as long as it doesn't get real cold where you are located.... the better oil would be an 75-90 gear oil.... but it will not hurt you....just reduce fuel economy a little.

Outside of Richmond in the Winter (I lived in VA BCH for 12 years) would probably be a little cold for the 140, but then again last winter I was running the 140. The big difference is it feels very sluggish when you first get going and I am sure it effected fuel economy. Yep you learn from mistakes....I will not do that again.
