Hi all.

I have recently had problem with my 1995 Range Rover Classic 4.2L LWB.
For some reason it wouldn't start so I took it to mechanic. He checked the fuel pressure, which was ok, then he checked the fuel injector relays under the dash of passenger side, he replaced one of relays, and finally he checked the fuses under hood, and 15A fuse was burned out. After replacing fuse the Rangie came back to life. But what happened next was that the idling would be unstable, jumping up and down, you could smell that the fuel was running rich, and fuel consumption increased by 50%. Also the truck lost his power while accelerating.
I would appreciate if anyone of gurus could list the possible causes of:
1.Cause of increasing of fuel consumption
2.Why engine is running rich
3.Unstable idling.
4.Loss of engine's power
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
Arsene.

First, welcome to the forum.

Second, more info needed: Last tune up and what was done?

How many miles on the RR?

Fuel consumption increased by 50% what kind of fuel economy were you getting and getting now?

How did the mechanic check fuel pressure if the fuel pump wasn't running?

The more info you provide the better our answers.

Thank you joey for your warm welcome.
I never did tune up past 8 years because my truck was running perfectly. I was changing oil every 5000km and spark plugs of course. What happened was I was playing with relays under the passenger side dash, pulling them out and cleaning putting back. For some reason shortage occurred causing damage to 15A fuse under the bonnet. I also pulled out ECU, damn curiosity.. and after i couldn't start the engine, so I had to bring it to mechanic.
He checked the fuel pressure with special tool connecting to the valve. Now if i don't disconnect the battery it would drain over night, so next morning I would need booster cables.
The truck has 212000 km.
The fuel economy before: I could put 30 litters of gas for 210km or 8 galons= 130miles
The fuel economy now: 30 liters for 140 km.
Hope this helps.
Thanks again.

Sorry for the late response, I would start with a complete tune up.

battery drain can be found by a light test. remove ground cable from battery attache trouble light between the battery and the cable. Unplug/replug fuses untill you find the offending item that turns the light out.
