I bought my Disco with a brush bar that has 2 empty mounts for fog lights. I was wondering how hard the wiring is to install. (i'm not much of a handy man but i can handle wiring pretty well).

Is there a certain type of lights that i should look into?

Wiring fog lights is easy, just don't forget to use a relay and fuses before and after the relay.

you have a few options as to how you want to wire them. I like to wire them so they are either on or off with a switch when the key is on.. so

install relay under the hood, and run from the positive terminal of the battery to the relay with 10 gauge. install a fuse in this wire.

then run from the relay out to the lights. also use 10 gauge and a fuse.

now go to the fuse box, and find a fuse that is on with the key, and run a smaller gauge wire (14 or 16 even) from there to your switch, then from your switch to the relay.

Thats it, done.

You could also run the power source for the switch from the headlights (either high or low beam, you choice of when you want them to be on)

Don't forget to use grommets if you are going to pass a wire through a hole you drill in metal.

Thanks for the detailed description! That was exactly what i was looking for. Is there an existing wiring mesh that is already going from the engine compartment to fuse box? I'm not really keen on drilling through.

Do you have the factory under-bumper fogs?

If not, my '99 already had the wiring behind the headlamps for the factory fogs, a plug in the panel under the clock for the factory switch, and a relay socket behind the driver's kick-panel for the fogs.

It will only come on with the low-beams, will have to change one wire to the switch if you want them on with parking lights or other options.
