Dude, that's a lot to ask. There are plenty of problems with both Series 1 and 2 Discoveries. Even within Series 1 there are differences (96-99 have distributorless ignition and 4.0V8).

My suggestion: Read a lot of the threads here, and you'll see a pattern in problems. Look in your classifieds, or at dealers, and post up what you find. Someone here will doubtlessly have driven a 19XX Disco like you're looking at and will have input.

They all leak, they all have odd, intermittent, and unexplainable electrical gremlins.

both

well i drive a 1997 disco and my dad drives a 2001 disco II and thus far it seems that the disco II has more problems....but of course I'm going to side with the disco I..not only cuz I drive it but also cuz its BETTER! nah but really, i drive my dads disco series II sometimes, and I prefer my series I. but yeah check some other post out.

I have a 97 Disco Series 1 and love it to death. I bought it used from a lady that had it under a "gold" warranty and thus everything until i bought it was completed by land rover under warranty. Every Disco is going to have it's problems, for the most part you are walking into a lifestyle...a lifestyle that is unmatched and further you will never return to a non Landy ever again.

As for you 99 Disco II......i would think that price is a little low, but then again i'm in canada and Disco are fairly pricey in my neck of the woods. A 99 Disco is GREAT shape goes for around $22 - 25,000.

Well that is a good price for a 99 disco 2 SE, we paid more than that for ours, with 88K miles. Of course the question is what does it need or what will it need in the next year or so.

yeah you gotta know whats to come if you purchase a disco for that cheap, almost too good to be true. but nah...all discos have problems but just make sure the one your looking at does not have extensive troubles.
