I can tell you about my '97 Disco, I have had it for 2 years now, and other than upgrades that I wanted to spend money on, I have had less than $500 in acuall repairs, and this includes normal maintenance (i.e. oil changes and plugs/wires) this does not include a set off tires that I needed - not upgrade. I use mine as a daily driver and would have no worries about driving it anywhere. I often get called out for work and will drive 4 or 5 hours one way to fix an issue. The only complaint I have would be the price of Gas, not how much it uses, just how much I have to pay per gallon. It is still $2.00 for the Cheap stuff here in WV at least in the town I live in.

Mike ... I own a 03 SE-7 with no issues. A frind of mine has a 98' SE-7 with almost no problems ... he talked me into mine!!! Another friend has a 99' SE-7 with just a few oil leaks that he had caused driving over things.

If you do the oil changes and address any little issue that comes up, the cost would be the same as with any other car/truck. These units are great in all kinds of weather. As for the gas mileage ... it is generally better than the big three in the discussions I have had with other owners. Some parts may cost more ... some less. Hey, my weekend car is a Porsche 944T ... talk about repair costs!!!

With the large amount of Disco's coming off lease, the market is a bit flooded right now. If you look around you can find a gem for a good price. If you where up here in Canada I could set you up with a 2000 SE-& with 83,000 Kilometers with ACE ETC for around $19,000 CDN. Friend owns a Porsche garage and also sells other higherend vehicles. P-Car owners usually have two to three other cars/trucks and he looks after them as well. One of the best options to have is the electrically heated FRONT windsheild. Yesterdays freezing rain was melted in about a minute!!!

Hope this helps,
