Shocker, I realize, but LR has 204 problems per 100 vehicles. Ford, the parent company had 127. Even Hummer crushed LR with 171 per 100. Isuzu was second to last at 191. Porshe had the least with 91. Industry average was/is 124.

Why is this freaking company so disfunctional? What possessed me to spend 50+K on a vehicle that gets its ass kicked by GMC (119 BTW)?

So much for resale value.

What? Only 2 problems per Land Rover vehicle in 90 days of ownership? That seems low. :deal:

 I doubt this new report will impact resale. This isn't really new for Land Rover. But do note... these initial quality reports don't differentiate minor problems (which I did have... some caused by dealer before delivery) and major problems. And, of course, it may or may not have anything to do with longer term reliability. It's just another statistic.

So far, I'm reliable... 18 months in. And only one "major", but quick, fix... (air compressor last month).

http://www.thelandroverchronicles.com has coverage, too.

With all the trouble I've had... I still loved the truck enough to decline the phone call from JD Power...

I'm still laughing that their dead f-ing last. For christ sake, Cadillac, Hyudai and Suzuki owners are seeing less problems.

Maybe Land Rover owners are a little pickier about their vehicles than most other buyers. I can't believe that a Hyundai buyer would come in with half the stuff that I see in the Luxury markets, so it is perceived as having higher quality? That just doesn't seem right.

That's funny, I did the exact same when they called too!

Get this - my dealer here offered me a free full tank of gas (which in California is worth about $75.00) if I would bring the JD Powers survey in and fill out "Outstanding" on every line of the form... I'm actually going to do it today...
However... so far the car is "Outstanding" and the dealer/service are "Outstanding" as well... I've had no problems.

It doesn't take into account that Land Rovers have so many more mechanical and electrical features than, say a Hyundai that can go wrong. It also doesn't take into account the distribution of the problems. For example, askewed has had 195 problems. And the rest of this forum has had about 9. So throwing out askewed's vehicle, we would rank first. Right???

You definitely have to take the results with a grain of salt. It's a collection of "quantified subjective" data, with empirical trends reported. By quantified subjective I mean while numbers might be assigned to satisfaction levels or numbers of problems or whatever, it doesn't take into account that satisfaction varies from respondent to respondent, as does the type of problem that each person had.

I've had a few minor issues and a few major ones. They were handled in a classy, responsive way by my dealer (thanks Seattle LR!) and I haven't had an issue in a while and don't expect to. I took my HSE up into the mountains two consecutive weekends and put on a total of about 700 miles in a 10 day time period and it didn't miss a beat. ...and it took me places I'd never thought of going before.

So, overall I'd respond positively even though I've had issues. Now, if you'd asked me during the time things were going hay-wire, I may not have had the rosy outlook.

...but in general what's being said here is also true; if this vehicle were as non-gadgetized as the others out there, fewer problems would ensue. I've said it before, with the performance comes reliability issues...sort of like a really hot, yet high-maintenence, girlfriend.
