My rpm tachometer stopped working this morning,

Hi my rpm tachometer stopped working on my 1998 4.6 range rover, at the same time the samll screen in front of the shift gears A/C area. Now it was working yesterday but in the morning my air suspension locked and I drove my car to the shop(about an hour drive). it bounced all the way. after that the rpm stopped working, now my speedometer still works. I checked fuses in the engine compartment they are ok. Can any body give me some pointers on what to check or what could have come loose.. Thanks In advance.....

Hi guys , I checked a few of the threads posted on tachometer, so I checked the alternator to see if it was charging ok, and it is. 13.8 would this leave the alternator out of the question regarding the problem.

That doesn't completely take the Alternator out, but it at least means it is charging.... check the wires going into the Alt to make sure none are broken... I don't recall the wire off the top of my head, but there is a small wire that goes from the alt to tach.

thanks for you r reply....What I did was recheck the alternator,checked fuses again, since I had all day to spear I decided to take the bottom of my dash apart, don`t ask why I just did, and I started pushing and checking every cable I saw under the dash. WHAT DO YOU KNOW the cable that goes into the whole tachometer, speedometer, was cracked and the plug was partially in. The funny thing about it is that all the other components in the dash were working(oil,light etcetc...)

Any way I found the problem, and it did not cost me a penny ...thank god...
