Just purchased an '04 disco, and have been taking it up to Tahoe this winter. The thing is a beast, and when I-80 had so much snow that they were only plowing the slow lane I locked the diff and I was the asshole driving through a foot of snow in the fast lane, a subaru decided to follow me but at that point I fell in love with "The Beast."
However in very heavy snow I found that the windshield wiper arm has too many crevices for said snow and ice to get caught in, and I found that the 2 windshield wipers basically became ice clubs. It was a pain in the ass to say the least when I had to pull over to de-ice the wipers, at one point when I was doing this 2 weeks ago a small avalanche almost pinned me against the side of the vehicle.
I tried looking for some kind of windshield wiper cover designed for snow but was unable to find anything. Does anybody here know of any kind of "bolt on" or windshield wiper arm that doesn't have all those crevices in it? I would suspect that if I took the beast mudding I could have similar problems. Any help would be appreciated. Although the snow season is pretty much gone (or soon will be) I have a few other trips planned and there is always next season to think about.
Thank you to all in advance that take the time to reply.
