This must be a beat up topic, but I couldn't find any step-by-step info on that topic. I understand that it's not a plug-and-play installation, and some metal will need to be cut/trimmed and so forth. I am determined to do it anyway. I need all the info I can get on how to install the nice 2003-style headlights on my 2000 Disco II. Please respond, all and any help is most appreciated. Thanks.

'Been trying to get the skinny on the conversion for a couple of days now... It's like no one wants to talk about that, some kind of Rover Land's best kept secret or something...
What little I know now is still not enough to deter me from this project, and I ain't paying $800 for a pair of new lamps, either. Once again, if you can help with the intel on this topic, do hesitate to do so, please.
Thanks again.

I found a post on this a few weeks ago. I'll send it to you when I find it. From what I can remember it is kinda costly.

Thanks. Looking forward to it. The most expensive part is the lights, hope eBay will do its magic again!!!

I just got a 2000 Disco and have been looking into this as well. There's someone from England selling very detailed instructions, with a parts list and pictures on ebay for about $43. I'm considering picking it up because I can't find a DIY anywhere.

The big catch is how the lights operate. The 03/04 Disco lights run high and low beams simultaneously while the 99-02 run separately. The connections are also different. Also, some of the lights on ebay are e-spec, we require NAS.

This is all I've been able to uncover but from what I've read thus far, it sounds very doable. I've done a similar swap on my 97 Jetta.. to get both high and low beams to run at the same time only required bridging a couple relays.

If anyone finds a DIY - please post:)

Hey, finally someone on the same page with me!!! I saw that English guy, but thought he's too greedy selling these CDs for so much. Surely, I thought, someone have done it already and will post/e-mail the know-how... The one detailed page that was out there no longer works though, nobody else seems to have a clue. If I find anything out, I'll share on this portal. This does, indeed, seem doable, and my stock headlights need to be changed one way or another - I figured, might as well do it as an improvement rather than plain repair.

There was an article, do not remember whether it was in LRO or in LREnthusiast. I ve got it, I have to search it.

The biggest issue has to do with metal trimming in the place where the headlamp fits.

The kit was being offered by Simmonites

http://simmonites.com/Discovery Exterior.htm

They don't have it listed on their web page, but I guess they can send you instructions if you order the kit from them.

Good luck!

Hi Guys, I think I have found just what you need. On the British E-bay site at the moment there is a guy selling a CD covering the whole conversion with photos and full instructions. He will also post worldwide. Item #4622404559

Good Luck...
