Reverse lamps

03 Disco II, the reverse lamps do not work, I checked and no voltage is getting to them. I need to check the switch but can't get the gear shift knob off. Any help in removing the auto shifter knob off would be great.

The switch you want to look at is the gear selector switch on the side of the transmission - not part of the selector inside the car
