So, when I hit my brakes anywhere between 55 and 50, my steering wheel begins to shake a bit. If I let up the brakes for a moment the shake eases up and goes away. I did just have the pads replaced and was prepared to replace the rotors too. Dealer said "your rotors look fine, just do the pads". So I said hey, that's good news.
So back to the issue, my LR3 has 80k miles on it, with probably 3k miles left of tread on the tires. I read online with other cars that it can be the steering wheel dampener? Maybe the bearings? Or the sliders on the calipers could be frozen? Then I also read that some people said a bubble in a tire?!? And of course maybe a warped rotor... shiet. I hope that's not the problem.
Then I searched on the LR World forums and found that those with D1s and D2s have issues called the "Death Rattle". Here you'll hear people talk about having the steering dampener replaced; some say that worked. Some say a swivel preload or perhaps the bushings are shot.
Anybody else experienced something like this? I suppose I'll try to diagnose it myself before a 45 mile ride to the dealer. What do you all think?
