I had the snorkel installed but noticed a significant reduction in power and gas mileage. Thus I want to have it removed...can anyone tell me if this will be big deal with regard to cosmesis of the LR3? I know they had to drill 2 holes in the body to install...any suggestions?

Raised Air Intake

I installed a Land Rover raised air intake on my LR3 and did not notice any change in fuel economy. Performance is the same, possibly just slightly better.

If you remove the assembly, there will be three holes in the body. The first two are on the fender above the air inlet and below the indented character line. The third is at the top of the plastic A pillar appliqué. The A pillar appliqué is the easiest to fix. You can buy a replacement part from Land Rover. The appliqué is held in place with a number of plastic push pins. They sometimes break when being removed so order a few extras when you order the trim piece.

The two holes in the fender are a more difficult issue. They could be filled in by a body shop. Most likely, you would have to repaint the entire fender and there is always the risk of a slight color mismatch. An alternative is to design a trim plate or plugs that could be painted and then attached either using the rivnuts that were placed in the holes or drilling the rivnuts out and using some type of push in plug.

Just an offshot here, but check your airfilter. LR states it should be changed at 60k, but I find it should be changed, a bit more often then that. If it's indeed dirty, that may be your culprit.

Just a thought from my experience..
