Good afternoon this is my first post I'm having a situation with my lr3 2006 this starter came down but yet the clip was broken so I have a wire that's running that has no clip on it I'm going to have to retrofit a class and then run wire sort of towards the top to use buttons I'm just curious if anybody knows what gauge the wire is or has run into this situation what's the best way best way to secure it in the starter clip without having a clip and where the actual wire runs to because I want to say I followed it and it went into looks like it ended in the alternator but I could be wrong I'm assuming it's electrical electronic ignition switch does any help would be appreciate it thanks

Can you roll the plastic protective cover back and see if there is a wire number on the conductor.

Personally, I think the wire is some aftermarket bit but you say it seems to have ended back near the alternator. I have attached a pdf re the alternator that suggests only 3 conductors off the alternator and I doubt that wire is one of them. If there is a wire number, perhaps it is on the pdf attached. If not, let us know what the wire number is.

Ok great and thx for the info. My biggest problem is the clip broke off from The wire that plugs into the starter I've tried solder I've tried crimping I've tried connections and it just won't hold does anybody know where I can find that pigtail or I guess it's a single female plug that goes into the starter because nothing will hold the wire in there and no matter what I do I've been without my vehicle for many many weeks now based on due to this kind of stuff and first it was a Bolton exhaust manifold that broke and it's just been one thing after next I'll get the wire number for you and let you know what I find out

Do you have a pic of the connector on the starter?
I thought they were an eyelet held on with a nut.

No picture of the connector for the small wires feeding into the starter motor. In the old days, there used to be a couple of threaded studs sticking out the rear of the starter solenoid kind of connected to the ignition switch and maybe the battery or to the big B+ stud of the starter motor itself.

Now the studs are a plastic plug that connects into the starter solenoid and then the wires go somewhere - probably the Engine Control Computer where they get battery power and a signal from the security system to start the motor.

A wire number is the best hint I can suggest. If no number, then that broken conductor is something aftermarket I would think.
