I have a 98 Disco 1 with about 60k miles. I have read a lot here about power steering leaks and having one, now know what to look for. However haven't seen a lot about transmission leaks and I have one of those too!. Uses half a quart every 300 miles or so...not subtle. Where do I look for this? One hopes it isn't a main seal. Thanks

Time to crawl under neith and look, that sort of leak volumn could be a front seal leak, it is hard to tell. Look and see if you can see any leakage and from what area and get back to us.

I crawled undermine today just to have a look see at things. I notice that I have a leak it seems to be power steering fluid. I am not very mechanically inclined so bare with me. It is towards the front, were the "steering link arm", I guess that is what it is called, connects to a box. Underneath of that is where the leak is. I checked the fluid and there is plenty. Is this something I should get fixed ASAP or should I just keep my eyes on if for awhile. Everyone always says that Disco have leaks!

Paul,
Own your leak, it sounds minor and I would suggest that you buy a bottle of Lucas power steering additive and use it. Lucas is known to stop a great % of p/s leaks. This will either fix the problem or slow it down enough that it will not be a problem.
