Appreciate this is quite old but I'm wondering if a solution was found to this problem?
I've just purchased a used 2005 SE LR3 and am having the same problem with changing the user settings. I purchased the car privately and the local dealer is reluctant to assist!
Any suggestions appreciated.

Can you give some more details - what exactly is the problem?

Rich, I want to change the odometer and other info from miles to kilometres. According to the manual this is selectable by the driver by pressing the info button on the end of the indicator stalk until "Settings" appears and then use the radio buttons to scroll through and select the desired units.

I've tried various combinations with the vehicle standing still, (engine running, engine stopped with ignition on), and various key positions. At no time does the "Settings" menu appear on the message centre display.

From my interpretation of the manual this function is not an optional extra so I'm not sure why it doesn't work in my vehicle?

You are pressing the info button and releasing it right? Not just pressing once and holding it in waiting to see "Settings" right?

Mate, I've tapped it, I've held it in, I've tried holding it in whilst turning the key, and numerous other variations of "Pressing the info button for less than 2 sec"!

Sounds like it simply is broken. I just tried mine with engine off (key in pos II), with engine on, in park, and in gear at a stand still. It worked under all these scenarios. Why would your dealer be reluctant to assist?
