which engine to use????????????

hi i am wanting some advice. i gues thats why i am here but anyway. i am planning an expedition and have bought a defender ambulance that is left hand drive and unfortunatly its got a v8 wich as you can imagin wont get me to far cheaply. i am thinking of a diesel but not sure which one to use 300tdi or tgv 2.8. any advice would be so very much apreciated.
