got the Haynes manual in the mail the other day turns out you have to take off the steering wheel to get at the screw that holds it in

Sorry I didn't see this post sooner... ignition switch is fairly easy... the hard part is getting the new one keyed to match the doors or remembering you have two keys.

its not the ignition switch its the combination switch for the signals lights and head lights

Figured out how to do it with out taking off the steering wheel off turn it to the extreme right you can sneak in a screwdriver in there to take out two screws then take a flat end in and it should pop out

Oh that switch... sorry. even still... you can also take it apart and clean the old of the hard grease and re-grease then keep as spare.

the switch was hit or some thing in the crash it was in
