Ok, was going to buy 15' V-6, but heard the negative comments regarding the performance. I drove one for 10 days, highway and city, found the acceleration to be fine. Not quite as fast as the V-8, but certainly more than adequate. Did not do any off-roading. Waited on a title and while waiting took it into a LR Dealer for evaluation. The tech said it "sandcrabbed" when turning into his service bay, indicating a future t-case issue. Also, check eng light, needed t-stat, stuck open. Also, air suspension faults stored. That stopped the sale. I was surprised to hear all of this at 59,000 miles. The previous owner just replaced the t-chain and coolant pipe at 57k due to rattle at start up. That cost 6k. The Carfax checked out great, no accidents. This Rover sounded like it was going to be a tech's best friend. So I passed on it.
One of the "quirks" I did not like was the constant beeping from the rear parking sensors as soon as it was put into reverse (in open area) until you manually cut it off or shifted to drive. Another annoying feature was the auto stop/start. Even on hot days in the low 90's and high humidity, it still cut off at stoplights. Super annoying. You have to select Gravel road setting to override. The info screen has too many icons that are smaller, kind of confusing while driving. Otherwise, I did not see anything I could not live with, other than having to spend about $5k right off the bat. So, I ended up purchasing a super clean 12' LR4, that is a little simpler in screen layout and has 110k on it, but was well maintained.
The nav is outdated, but I use waze anyway. It does have the Xenon headlights, which are nice. The V-8 is very quick and powerful. I had it checked out as well, LR Dealer found nothing in need of immediate repair, so I pulled the trigger on that one. I would highly advise having a dealer or experienced Rover shop check out your purchase. I would not have caught the weak t-case on the 15' model until probably 3 months into owning it. Best $ ever spent. Hope this helps with purchase decisions. Again, the V-6 wouldn't scare me away, the later models just have the annoying updated features you don't need.
