Hey all,

About a month ago, I had the brakes pads changed on my '05.

I have Ferodo pads for the front, and Textar for he back. Not only are the squeaks still there, but now I get a very loud whistling noise too. It usually happens when I'm riding the brakes and moving very slowly or when I'm coming to a stop. It's pretty annoying.

Could it be the rotors? Bad quality brake pads? Anyone else have this problem?

Your pads probably have metal in the compound and it is hitting the rotor thus a squeal this is common in some types of break pads.

If you didn't replace the rotors when you changed the pads and the new pads are not the same as original, they will squeak. Did you measure the thickness of the rotors? If they are acceptable, you may try bedding your brakes and see if it will help:

Search the Internet for the reasons why brakes squeak and try out some of the remedies.

Good luck,
JK

I'll say it before Boaz says it. You gotta "glaze your axles..."

A lot of brake squeal is in fact the pads resonating in the calipers when in contact with the rotors.

If you coat the back of the pads with an anti-seize compound, such as copaslip

This prevents the vibration and hence the noise.

Easy and cheap fix - been using it for years with great success
