I didn't realize they had a High Mileage version of the EP. Thanks for the tip!

The next planned change will be at 150k (8kmi interval). Since Red Line prices shot up at the end of 2022 from ~$12/qt to ~$17/qt (link) !!!!!, I'm not sure if I will continue to feed this engine Red Line. If so, I might try to push the interval to 10k from here on out. If using lesser oil (Group III base stocks at $6-$7 per quart), I might change at 5kmi. Haven't decided yet, but Mobil-1 Extended Performance at $6/qt (link) is pretty enticing, even if I have to change it more often.

The Motul oil I use averages out at around $10.20 per liter.

Thanks, Ryan! I haven't researched LR4/AJ133 oils in years, since shortly after I bought the truck in 2017. At the time I started using dealer 5W-20 oil, but the dealer soon only had 0W-20 available so I switched to Red Line. I really like Motul products, might have to give their Specific 948B a try... still in shock over Red Line at $17/quart.

Yeah, that's wild. Then again, if you amortize it over each month, it's the [Sally Strothers voice] price of a small cup of coffee.

A $10 per quart saving x 8 quarts = $80 twice a year so $160 per year. Times ten years of ownership pays for a third of a timing guide job. ;)

In the past, my justification for higher-cost, higher-quality oil was the ability to go twice the miles on the OCI. When the good stuff was "only" twice the price, the cost was the same either way (actually saving 1 oil filter expense), and saving the 1-2 hours messing with the oil change / oil disposal. But at 3x the price or worse... yeah... the CBA / ROI starts going in the wrong direction.

I need to look into the Mobil-1 "Extended Performance" base stocks on BITOG along with VOA's. If that's a Group IV oil, it might be ok to 10kmi, in which case it would be almost half the price of the Motul. I'll see if I can find details / VOA on the Motul as well but that might be difficult since it's not a 'mainstream' oil like M-1.
